Own a HQ GTS coupe myself, since 93, but this has always been my favourite. What a beauty.

Had one in white in 1970. One of the 25 Bathurst-prepped HDT specials that never made it to the great race. Purchased from Suttons Motors, Hurstville. Easily identified by the aircleaner inlets, bulkhead cut-outs behind the front bumper, dust covers missing from front discs, revable blue-printed donk etc. Mates with similar 350s could never work out why it was so much quicker in a straight line. Only sold it because I was posted overseas. What a magnificent car it was.

Absolutely Beautiful, And I Remember Those Original Wheels, But Really; Are Those Really Brake Drums On The Front?!! If So, I Don't Know How They Managed To Stop The Bloody Thing, Even With That Bloody Great Booster!!

Say guys, did you know that this Monaro is based upon an European (German) Opel Rekord Coupé or and an European (German) Opel Commedore Coupé and that a sister car of this Monaro is a Brazillian Opala SS, which in the end is also based upon The European (German) Opel Record and Opel Commodore, with one very big difference...you guys obviously got the 5.7Liter V8 and the Brazillians got the 4.2 inline 6 and we had to cope with a 1.7 4-banger in the Opel Rekord and a 2.5 inline six cylinder in the Opel Commodore...

As was 95% of all Holdens, they were based on Opels or parts bins from USA/GMH. From day 1 (when the Aust Govt funded the GMH factory to be built) thru to when Holdens bailed on Australia after royally screwing the Australian taxpayer. Even the advert "football meat pies kangaroos and holden cars" is a direct rip off from the almost identical USA GMH advert.

@@Leosarebetter Well Australia to us Europeans is far away, but all the hassle you guys had to go through is an unknown factor here as well, so also far away. We hardly hear anything about Australia unfortunately ... My guess is that barely anybody knows anything about Australia, with of course the exception of those whom have been there... So your Aussie car culture for example we absolutely know nothing about, I therefor was very surprised to see cars that looked very similar to cars I did know made by GM Opel. I did was vicariously jealous of you Australians, I mean why did we had to cope with four bangers in our Opel Rekord's , If the same car, as it turns out, in Australia could be equipped with a 5,7 Liter V8 and called Monaro. I was even Vicariously jealous on the Brazillians whom obviously got "our" Opel Rekord, but equipped with a 4.2 liter Slant Six, called Opala SS. Dang dude...why did we never have these here in Europe.... Just make sure you guys understand you're lucky with this. You guys after all, could have been in our European situation driving around with 4 cylinder Opels, while we would have had the 5,7 Liter V8 option....but this is sadly not the case, for us that is....🤨
