I remember getting in on the year they started putting up fences (as it was getting ridiculous; the year before Glastonbury was like an overcrowded city where most people had just pushed over the fences). There was talk about those grappler ladders being used, but we found a little crowd around a little tunnel, one like a dog would to dig to get under a fence, and it was a crazy rush, but you had to cross your legs (because your straight legs wouldn't make it out of the upward slope of the tunnel/dug out), and you had to be quick as there were guards patrolling the inner perimeter. Someone shouted from the other side to hurry dafuq up as we'd been spotted and they were running towards us. Once through, you have to run 20 odd metres to the next fence, which was just basic wire one and already had a hole snipped in it, and then blend into the crowd. It was like the Berlin wall and crossing that no mans land bit. Some didn't make it.

I saw a grappler ladder being used around then. Personally, I gave a guy £30 to jump the fence and come out with a outward ticket. I have no idea what drugs he was on to jump that high. Later that day a hijacked bulldozer just took out a section of wall up at the stone circle and it was a free for all.

At an Aussie festival named StoneFest when I was underage ( 15 years ago ) I comando crawled along a rooftop for over an hour to try and find an entry point, got really close but was still about 2m away from the fence line at this point so couldn't risk the jump! As it was at a UNI campus I then walked around to all of the surrounding doors and slipped a plastic card into the door jam and managed to pry open the door! Walked through the hallways until I popped out of a temp wall in a hallway, security saw me and asked wtf? I said uhhhh I was just looking for a bathroom which worked! Got wasted and never looked back! W !

The thing about security is you need to manage cost with effectiveness. It really seemed like they covered all their bases pretty well. They could have hired 10 or 15 extra staff to be stationed on those entry points and even outside of them watching along with lighting and spotters between the internal fences but that would have cost around $7000 per day not including the lights radios and uniforms. If someone is determined enough they can be very hard to defend against. The cost to secure the event from someone like you didnt outweigh the rosk you would pose to the event. Letting a few people slip by is cheaper than hiring and supplying a dozen staff. I will almost 100% guarantee there will be a chain securing that gate to the upper fence next year though. TBH you did provide them free security consulting work so you really paid for your ticket lol.

after working the festival on the outer fence as a "Safety point" I know how ridiculously easy it is to get into the festival from over by Ped Gate D Caught so many Scousers trying to sneak in even found the way they were sneaking in, I walked along that very route by that bridge as my mates Companies camp site was right behind that wall.

Good on you mate! The more corporatised the Glastonbury festival becomes, the more I root for people to beat their system! The last time I got in for free was the early 90’s, when it was just one easily scalable wall and no security to the level that it is these days - the bands were more suited for that particular festival too with bands like Oasis, Radiohead, The Levellers, Manics and nostalgia acts like Elvis Costello and Johnny Cash

That gap looked physically impossible to get down. Like you would do yourself damage if you tried to get down it. You'd have to drop in vertically from the top and even then would probably catch your boilocks on the way down.

I used to live near Pilton, where Glasto is held. My friends and I would always skate in the skatepark that overlooks the grounds, we would walk around the fields and smoke on the empty shell of the pyramid stage. It was so weird to think of how many super iconic acts have stood on that very platform. Great vid man, been tempted to break in for so long lol

@@MichaelCook84 If you live in Pilton itself, yes, tickets are free. There is also a wider catchment area that get assigned 10,000 tickets for locals. We have to pay full price but I've managed to go every year since I was 14 and I'm now 34

In 1998 I sneaked into Glastonbury. It was night and there was some dodgy guy hanging around outside who said he could get me and my friends in for a fiver each. We paid him and he then stamped the backs of our hands with some invisible ink. Not sure if we'd just been totally ripped off we approached the entrance gates. There were 3 or 4 workers, standing in the darkness, letting people in. They asked to see our hands. Our hearts pounding, we lifted up our blank hands and they shone a UV light across the backs of them. And there, to our disbelief, glowed a blurry symbol of something somewhat illegible . But it was enough. "In you go guy's." We'd done it.

I still remember sneaking into a burning man festival inside a suitcase 20 years ago. The reason is that ive spent all my ticket money in the casino in Las Vegas the day before😂. And I flew all the way from Maryland and knew noone in California to borrow money from. Lucky me my Serbian friends had purchaced their tickets in advance but had not had enough for another ticket so I jumped into their suitcase and sneaked through the security check. Was fun.

In the 90's and before, there were scouser, rastas with rope ladders stashed in bushes. £10 & we got in. Think it was 94ish. Oasis, JK etc were playing. So many bunking in it was declared a free festival.

I sneaked into SW4 in 2005 by stealing the name Doug (from Metro) from the guestlist, over the security shoulder with the actual printed list; I then quicly ditched the que, go upfront and signed that name. In 2006, at SW4 again, through the fence (literally) But from 2008 onwards, money were not an issue anymore, so just got tickets on the spot, regardless the price! #GoodOldDays
