In this video, I'm going to explore an abandoned silver mine! It's sure to be a fun adventure, and I'll take you along for the ride.
Many of the mines in the Southwest are being caged off, which blocks people from entering them. But mines have more than one entrance. So lets go explore this mine.
If you're looking for a fun and adventurous travel video to watch, then this is the video for you! I'll explore an abandoned silver mine and have a lot of fun doing it.

Somebody in my area has been reopening gated mines, and quite forcefully. No idea how long it will take Forest Service and BLM to realize they're open again, but I'm just enjoying the exploring opportunities while they last.

The bench in that crosscut looks like a fuse table where they would "set" the time for the charges by stretching out the fuse on the table and cutting the fuse to length so the charges in the blast wall would go off in the right order.

At 15 minute mark where we see the tiny dot of light from the entrance reminded me of a tunnel my brother and I was in way back in 1992, we ere in a bout 1oo meters on our way out and I bet we broke the minute mile run. Was in the mine when the landers earthquake hit and 60 meters of the mine caved in, we were covered in dust .

Enjoyed your explore there. I always wondered what the inside of that mine adit looked like. A while back we drove around and up to that one on our way to some other mines to the Southeast, thanks!

A tunnel goes entirely thru the mountain. An Adit is an entrence to a mine. You're in a haulage adit, not a tunnel.

Just a positive suggestion - try slowing down a lot and then you’ll be able to comment on what you see - the ore shutes, geology, etc. It just seems like one mad rush. All meant as positive suggestions - not criticism.

I think you mean bat-gated. That's the common name for the blocking device. They're used on caves too. I wouldn't climb down any old ladders unless I was on rope and had someone else with me, beware of Murphy's Law.

They make monitors for air quality that you can clip on or bring with you. In the old days, miners literally used to bring a bird cage with them. I want to say it was either a canary or parakeet, don't remember which. They are super sensitive and would drop dead quickly at a lower parts per million concentration to alert the miners to a hazard far before it would affect the miners. Absolutely, I wouldn't go into a mine alone since you aren't familiar with them. There are holes in the floor that you can fall hundreds of feet through (they're called winzes and are just inclined or vertical shafts or passages between levels in a mine). There are raises in the ceilings that do the same thing, but of course you can't fall through them unless from above. Then there are sometimes old sticks of dynamite, cases/boxes or wooden crates of old dynamite and/or blasting caps just lying around. All of which become dangerously unstable over time. The nitroglycerin can leak out of them and is highly unstable. You could accidentally kick something and make a massive boom happen as if they just blasted in the mine, trapping yourself and/or dying in the explosion or cave-ins. These are the main reasons why they don't want people going into mines. Plus the wooden ladders can rot, the support boards above can rot, etc. There are just so many dangers.

I would guess that you slipped through on the bottom right side at 0:29, which would have been the bottom left on the way in. Looks like a good gap between the end of the bars and the side of the entrance. I thought 14:00 was the shirt and pants of a person at first, but as you walked up it became clearer. lol
