1:02 This is literally the same thing with COD and Scump, though Scump IS pretty much the all-encompassing COD figure. Everyone watches basically for he and OpTic. What Scump and Faker do for their respective scenes is unmatched by anyone else, on top of the fact that they are also content creators and do brand deals while still competing at the highest level. I do think the League of Legends scene is a bit more "for everybody," whether you're into competitive, casual, or just story stuff. The viewership will always be there, though, even if Faker leaves, because it's on a global scale. If Scump were to retire, however, the entire competitive COD scene might die out because people only really care to watch Scump and OpTic play, either as fans or people that just want to watch them lose.

True man. Without Scump and Nadeshot back during Ghosts and AW I would've never heard of the competitive COD scene at the time. There were tons of good players but they were the face of the game like Faker. I wonder how LCS is going to bounce back viewership in particular; its getting worse every season.

I wish they had been able to finish talking about IMPORTS (The Sneaky-Ignar Timestamp) always thinking they are too good for NA and will just destroy everyone in the LCS. It almost never happens and Sneaky, DL and Meteos all witnessed it for years even as they routinely shit on these overhyped imports. I remember when Piglet came to NA, fanboys/casters/analysts were going insane saying Piglet was going to destroy NA bot lanes and Sneaky and DL just obliterated him. Same, of course for the "Best in the West" Zven/Mithy who were just a laughing stock in NA. And C9 had to beg Meteos to come backto save them after watching RUSH go 1-11 on Kindred and feed his ass off every game. It's just sad that DL is the one who always perpetuate the myth that these imports get an "NA debuff" instead of the fact that NA players are just as good or better.
