Where do you get a new cpu? What are the symptoms of a bad one?

you dont get a new one unless you have a donor board.. cpu symptoms vary, but most of the time a cpu will screw up the logic of the game where as a PPU "picture processing unit" will usually show garbled graphics but the game logic is sound. meaning you can still run and jump and play mario but with garbled graphics. a bad cpu will not allow certain logics to happen. for instance super mario world opening level has the black box with text saying "welcome to super mario world" a bad cpu may not display that message and you are stuck at the intro. with that said there are varying chips in games that will make a bad cpu behave differently.

@_BELMONT_ Thanks. My problem is that Super Mario World plays perfectly, saves games and has no issues. I have about 10 other games that don't play at all. Some, like DK Country, will show the opening sequence, but the game won't start. Others, just a black screen.

Nice work and video, 890°F is way too hot - that's why your tip looks like shit. I like to use a BC3 tip at around 700°F for this kind of work

330c is plenty hot for these sized pins and pitch.
