Having worked at Sierra during most of the 90s, I was a PC gamer through and through. Didn't own any consoles in the 90s... hence the reason why I bring in experts like The Immortal John Hancock.

Well dood. If you suck at Q-bert you probably haven´t tried hoging the cabinet in a 45 degree angle? Same goes for a controller on emulation on a modern system. Hold that controller in a 45 degree angle. A world of difference, I promise.

Neat observation. probably how they easily named the character from taking it from their company capcom. Also, capcoms name comes from shortening their actual company’s full name: capsule computers.

One game that I liked that wasn't on the list was "Brain Lord." It is an action RPG with a top down view and a heavy emphasis on puzzle solving. "Brain Lord" is (in my opinion) Enix's (now Square Enix) take on the Zelda series. Very good game and worth checking out. :)

The three games in this trilogy by Jaleco were named Rushing Beat, Rushing Beat Ran, and Rushing Beat Shura in Japan. Their US names were Rival Turf, Brawl Brothers, and The Peace Keepers, respectively. Although I hated the moronic robot enemy and cartoon character icons in Rushing Beat Shura, I found it moronic that the music was cut from The Peace Keepers (yes, there was music in the game and it was pretty good). However, aside from enemy names and some cut scenes, Rival Turf remained unchanged and you could actually access the full and unchanged game of Rushing Beat Ran through Brawl Brothers legitimately through a secret code. I also owned The Peace Keepers.

Just found an arcade controller for the MSX series of machines. It was used in arcades to a cabinet that had a MSX machine inside and primary for Pachinko games, popular in Japan. The controller is a Pasoko-1000, and was listed as junk, I am just uploading a video where I show how I repaired it. Great series with John, some really good picks in this part. The Valis series started on the MSX computers (although the 1st game is not that good).

There's a nice little SNES game called On The Ball that plays like a 2D version of Monkey Ball - you rotate the maze to roll the marble to the exit. Was a Taito arcade game and it's ported really well to the SNES. Works great with the standard controller but it also supports the SNES mouse controller.

I always felt like such a badass for finding those games and when I went to school on Monday after playing them all weekend I would tell people about them first thing. Looking back I guess I realize why they get overlooked compared to some of the other beat'em up's for the SNES, but they are still great for those looking for something different and wanna kill some time. Also, love that stealth controller or whatever the hell that was. That was some crazy looking shit.

It wasn't in this part, but.. I'd like to thank you guys for suggesting Peace Keepers. It is honestly just like Streets of Rage but for the SNES. It's not QUITE as good as SoR, but it's still fun, and has the same style gameplay. Beat em ups (or Brawlers as you guys call 'em) is one of my favorite genres. SoR is also one of my favorites of the genre. So finding a game similar to SoR for the SNES is fucking GREAT. I AM emulating right now simply for price and convenience.(Plus I don't see emulation as the spawn of Satan like some collectors do. It's a simple, quick, and easy way to play games that I can't afford or otherwise wouldn't be able to play. Plus with a USB SNES controller, and a nice NTSC filter, it feels almost identical to the real thing.) But I do have my actual SNES hooked up, I just don't have the money to buy games for it at the moment. (Luckily I still have most of my games from back in the day, including a boxed copy of Chrono Trigger...and 3 Link to the Pasts for some reason.) Now, I don't plan to buy tons of SNES games anymore. I'm not a collector. I just enjoy the games. But I definitely will have to look up Peace Keepers. (As well as check out what the others in the series were, as mentioned in the same video.) To add my own to the list. I'd like to mention Batman Returns. It's not exactly unknown considering well, it's Batman. But it's a simple, but fun beat 'em up that barely ever gets mentioned. It's one of my most played games from back in the day, even if I could never beat the level with all the fire.
