This and Genesis released during a time where as a kid you could only ask your parents for 1 console, and whatever you didn't get you just went to that kid in the neighborhood who got the other one lol. It was a great generation of gaming especially for arcade style games

Then there would be that rich kid that had both sega and super nintendo lol. Games were really expensive for the time too. Pretty much everyone was picking them up used from blockbuster or the local grocery store. Christmas 1987 my dad surprised me with the Nintendo NES. Even my mom was shocked. I grew up with everything Nintendo. Naturally, my parents got me the Super Nintendo if I remember correctly on Christmas of 1993. Games were really expensive in those das. I remember working all summer to save $70 to buy Starfox at Woolworth's. If I was lucky enough to be gifted a game, it would only be on special occasions like Christmas or my birthday; nevermind getting a whole new different console, that also required buying cartridges to play. My neighbor across the street, Carl Henry, he had a Sega Genesis. He would come over to play Super Mario Land and Street Fighter 2 Turbo at my house, and I would go over to play Sonic and Mortal Kombat 2 at his.

Games that you should consider: 1) Super scope games 2) Mario paint and other games that use the mouse 3) Tin Star 4) Sim City Why? If you own the real hardware, why not get the stuff that you can't really play with an emulator. Super scope would certainly count for that. It's nice to be able to appreciate the weird technology of the era. Mario Paint is full of charm. One of the coolest parts about it is the music maker. I highly recommend getting the Nintendo Power issue which comes with a mini mario paint instruction booklet. Also there is a website still in operation today that has a bunch of sprite templates and songs for mario paint. Also consider Tin Star. I find this game particularly interesting because you can play it with a gamepad, super scope or the mouse. Which is both cool and odd. Sim City is a must have. Sim City for the SNES is one of the best ports of the game for any system. It was made in-house by Nintendo and they added their special touches to it. I love letting my SNES idle for hours while I do other things in my office and casually turn attention back to it to tend to my city. Sim City is an impressive accomplishment because it plays very well with the gamepad. As you may know Sim City is generally played with a mouse on PC, although the original version for Commodore 64 did not use a mouse.

They only go for around $200. More stock was found and these things were selling for $20 a few years ago.

Great video! I saved a ton of money a got a modded SNES mini for $150 back in 2017. Seems like they have cracked down on those. Bummer was it didn't have a hidden gem called True Lies.

Once I heard the best console generation is the one you were playing when you were 12. Soooooo true. Love the SNES.
@NoxiousMob3 жыл бұрын
Funny you said this. I was 12 when the SNES came out. Still my favorite system!
@3xperiment83 жыл бұрын
That makes sense. When I was 12, Playstation had already came out, but around then, the Snes was definitively still the most popular in my country!

@@DanielRivera-on5qh yeah, games were collectible at that point, but it was nowhere near as bad as it is now. I got Splatterhouse III and Jet Set Radio Future CIB that same day. Was a good day.

Love Genesis, I'm probably one of the few that think bloodlines and hard corps are better than there snes counterparts. Snes had that rpg library though, my favorite system to collect for!
@yeahyeahwowman80993 жыл бұрын
For my money, the following games are better on Snes than the Genesis, Mortal Kombat 2, Zombies Ate My Neighbors, Sunset Riders, Turtles In Time, Turtle Tournament Fighters, I do enjoy Castlevania 4 more because it has better controls. Can say Street Fighter 2 as well because of the controller, probably more, but can't think of any right now.

I love the SNES, that generation has a great balance that no other system generations have achieved. The Sega Genesis has many shoot'em ups from Toaplan, so its a hard competition between that and the SNES, but i lend slightly more to Sega because i mostly play Truxton and MUSHA than Axelay or... Axelay, i love Axelay lol

I almost sold my SNES collection to Gamestop for $20. When they said the games are worth 50 cents, I took my collections and left the store. Some notable one are Contra 3, TMNT, Megaman X, x2, ff3, Chrono Trigger, Super Mario RpG, DK, and several others. I'm glad I didn't sell them for store credit.
