SNES Jurassic Park has aged perfectly - aside from the one issue it had even in 1993: the lack of a save feature. This, however, has been remedied in the new Jurassic Park Classic Games Collection, of which it is a part. This game had a gorgeous soundtrack, it had that special feel you'd only understand if you are old enough to truly remember being a kid when Jurassic Park came out and how thrilling everything from the film to the merchandise was as a dinosaur-obsessed kid - as if you'd entered a prehistoric world and there was an electricity in the air every new thing you saw. It EVEN remains, to this day, basically the ONlY Jurassic Park game to EVER adapt elements of Crichton's NOVEl, such as the motion sensors (i will never understand why motion sensors weren't used as save points though), the breeding of various animals on the island, the underground raptor nests and using the nerve gas to take them out, raptors on the ship at the dock, etc. NO game since has actually DONE all that. The game EVEN includes the fractal designs taken DIRECTLY from the novel (e.g. First Iteration, 2nd, 3rd, etc) - which are drawn out on the park's computers. Speaking of the computers, the computers in the game are touch-screen (for the character anyway), which, if you remember this was 1993, is very forward-thinking. It even has 3D first person indoor sections in one of the earlier examples of this technology, in the same GAME as the isometric view you have outside - effectively making this two different genre games in one. It's fantastic for ANY fan of JP, now more than ever now that the classic games collection version has a save feature. As a kid, I tried multiple times to beat it in one go and never could before someone shut off the system or knocked into the cord, so that's a GREAT addition that fixes the one real weak point it had.

The NES Metroid established the Metroid formula and was actually more of an open world game than the GB or SNES sequels. Great list. IMO - The DKC trilogy, A Link to the Past, Final Fantasy 6, Illusion of Time, Terranigma would be additions. Final Fantasy 4 is great, but needed substantial UI fixes... Final Fantasy 5 is a bit unfortunate, the original was horrible, and IMO the fixes in the enhanced ports only lessens the problems, but doesn't eliminate them in the way they did with FF4.
