The great thing about that gold armor besides of course the charge shots is that every time you fire a charged shot your invincible for a few seconds. If you actually keep spamming that charge shot (depending on timing) through each stage even to kill enemies that only take one hit, you can actually succeed in owning each stage without taking a hit.

I love this game. First of all, it's a direct sequel and it shows. Second, the graphics are gorgeous. Third, it's absolutely brutal. I mean, in the Arcade version it kicks off with the princess getting MURDERED. The freaking legions of Hell are out for your blood, but YOU are also out for theirs in vengeance. Fourth, the level design. Daaaang I still get goosebumps from how the first stage transitions from a graveyard to the sea, suddenly taking away your footing and making surviving a deal of precise platforming that gets more important as you get less and less secure footing and preparing you for level 2 proper.

This was during an era when Capcom wasn’t playing favorites during the third console war…at least this is the impression I get. This was an SNES exclusive, but the original Ghouls ‘n Ghosts (meaning the direct sequel to Ghosts ‘n Goblins) and the Champion Edition of the original SF2 were Mega Drive exclusives. I guess it gave hardcore gamers reason to own both consoles back in the day?

This game, perhaps is singlehandedly the most difficult game I have come across. The creators of Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts were ruthless and sadistic releasing this game. Overall, the game is well put together and intricate. Furthermore, the creativity of the gameplay is not monotonous nor redundant. Each stage is randomly bombarding you with enemies and obstacles that is different. You grow a deep desire to get as far as possible in this one.

Had to check that section about the 21-22 minute mark.. What he did wasn't cheating, but was the "Golden Glitch"... It's when you use Arthur's Gold armor charge move and use the invincibity frames from the super to pass through enemies... A simple concept that EVERYONE overlooks.. I did that when I played it the first time... Simple and tricky to use "COrrectly".. So, stop hating.

The Crossbow (with Bronze or Gold armor definitely helps in Stage 6, especially with the abundance of Arremer Aces (aka Red Devils) found there. With the upgraded armor, you fire 3 arrows, and they have the ability to chase down enemies (kind of like heat-seeking missiles). And of course, with the Gold armor, you can use the spell to reveal hidden chests. Personally though, I prefer the knife. It may not hit quite as hard, but its speed more than makes up for that. Plus with upgraded armor, the "Laser Knife" is nothing shy of lethal, because the damage it does gets bumped up.

This is a classic, no doubt about that, and I still own the original SNES cart. It's super hard, but not as hard as Ghouls N' Goblins, so it's doable. The arrows are my favorite weapons and the blue flame is least favorite. I'm actually pretty good at this game, and the only thing that really keeps me from properly beating the game is the amazingly devious Red Arremer. He has to be one of the most intelligent, cunning, and annoying enemies in video games! Otherwise, this game is a fun challenge and the graphics and music are impressive.
