That is the heaviest ending I've ever seen in a fighting game. Also, way cool that this directly references events that are the basis for Fatal Fury and is set in the 1970's.

@@Supermetabros92 The MD version pretty much has the basic ending from the arcade, leaves me wondering why that version didn't get the extended ending as well. They of course both had different developers for both consoles, could be a major reason why as Monolith (a sister company to SNK), and not Sega, developed the SNES version.

@@andresescobar6052 I think so too, the NeoGeo soundtrack is good, but SNES' is more dynamic and has a very good vibe. The game lacks certain background details, but it was able to emulate the zooming feature. If it had let's say 20 megs instead of 16, it could have had the cinematics in between fights and perhaps the missing details for most of the stages. But overall a great conversion considering the original had 102 megs and was the first game to enter the 100Mega shock category for the NeoGeo.

Todo, John, Mr. Big stages had the best music! The AOF , Fatal Fury , and Hokuto no Ken games had the plot reminiscent of the old B Martial arts action films by Cannon Films of the 1980s and 1990s. Always felt that AOF should've been an action film starring Loren Avedon as Ryo Sakazaki and Jean Claude Can Damme as Robert Garcia, and Fatal Fury should have been a film starring Brad Pitt as Terry Bogard back then, and Cynthia Rothrock as King.

the neo geo version of this game was actually really ingenious for it's time. it had facial damage during the fight and upgradable abilities during the bonus stages, almost like an rpg. it's a shame other fighting games didn't expand on these concepts.

The game play of this version is more responsive than the original. But that's the case for the 1st iteration of early arcade fighters(because fighting games were still in their early days). Fatal Fury 1, World Heroes 1, and the 1st version Street Fighter 2 are more responsive on their console counterparts.

@big973e Well, in AOF1, Geese was away on business, so Big was left in charge of Southtown. The kidnapping of Yuri was solely Big's plan to blackmail Takuma to help him overthrow Geese. Geese only got involved in AOF2, and started the tournament to draw the Sakazaki family to compete, and the ending of AOF2 leads into Fatal Fury. As for KOF, no. KOF is a spinoff series and follows it own story arcs and timeline.

The ending makes so much sense......but I seriously prefer to play this game on Neo Geo arcade / home console and emulator than this Snes version . It doesn't have the OMPH of excitement for some reason ( truth be told )

For having freakin god music at the end when you fight him, karate or “Mr. Karate” is way too easy. He should be way harder with that god music 😂 also the sounds they all make when they get hit sound so wimpy 😂😂😂 other than that amazing soundtrack

I agree, putting this on any difficulty over 5 requires a lot of patience to time opponents attacks and fight without exposing yourself

I’ll tell you what the A.I . Was incredibly smart in this arcade to home port. In most one on one games when you increase the difficulty level all it does is give the characters more damage offer you but that’s not the case in this game the game actually get smarter and figures out your next move don’t believe me play it

A very shocking ending. Personally I prefer the original version of the story, with Takuma working for Geese due to extortion, not to pay gambling debts, specially if we take account that this game makes him the one who killed Jeff Bogard.

is there any backstory to this story? I know Ryo's father was tricked into fighting because Yuri was kidnapped. But isnt Geese the one responsible for the kidnapping but you dont find that out until AOF 2 which at that point intertwines with the Fatal Fury story? all of this happening before the first KOF?
