I bought this game brand new back in the day for twenty bucks. I remember enjoying it and finishing it at least once if not a couple of times. I remember trading it in or to someone and completely forgot about it. Thanks for help me remember this blast from the past.

Always heard of this but never played it. I wonder if the story developers were clever enough to have Vincents interacting with the Tiamat-ians in ancient Babylon and inspiring the locals to write the epic of Gilgamesh. I wouldn't get my hopes up though.

Time Slip? Hell yeah! Leave it to you to eventually cover this ridiculously obscure Contra clone. Fair review, too. It's not the best, but it's kinda cool. Has this neat atmosphere, especially with the soundtrack in the background.

You had me at "Doctor Vincent Gilgamesh", because sometimes, all you need to know is that the main character is apparently a pulp comic hero from the 50's :P Jeez, even some of the intro cutscene (0:57) and enemy boss sprites (2:44) seem to be trying to recall, like, _Johnny Quest_ - that would be a pretty cool and unique theme for a game actually, but it's a shame the art quality is actually pretty inconsistent. Oh well; still looks pretty neat. I was looking for a run 'n' gun recently anyway (settled on picking up Wayforward's The Mummy: Demastered, even though it's a Metroidvania run 'n' gun)... I could definitely see myself -firing up the ol' emulator- legally purchasing a copy and checking this out for a bit :D

Gilgamesh? Tiamat? It sounds more like the developers just took some names half at random from Babylonian mythology and stuck them into a sci-fi narrative. Now, give me a game where Gilgamesh and Enkidu go on wild sci-fi adventures that parallel the original epic and I'd be all over that Mesopotamian madness... iiinnnnn SPPAAAAACCCEEE!

Although I don't share this information widely, I am glad you do on youtube. You could see this game had some really great ideas but it runs so poorly, especially compared to something like Contra on SNES. The aliens are actually called "Tirmatians "not "Tiamatians " (The R and A look similar but are slightly distinct. From memory, I think another reviewer on youtube made the same mistake.) Great video.

Man, I’m so glad you did a review of this game. I had completely forgotten about it but when I was about 9 or 10 (1996-ish) I was at the mall with my mom and I saw this fame at KB Toys, as soon as I saw that box art I had to have this game 10 year old me thought it was the coolest looking shit ever. I begged and pleaded with my mom to buy it for me, and she caved. I took it home and fired it up and was never able to get passed the 4th stage. I am so adding a ROM of this game to my SNES classic! I just like it that someone is actually talking about this game. I would rent this on a semi-regular basis when I was growing up (99c rental day was the best) and its always stuck with me. Sure its no hidden gem but it totally has its charm...also I personally really like the music, The theme for the Dark Ages has always stuck with me (Although that may be due to the fact that this game is kind of a pain in the ass)

All that guy does is compare it to Contra 3. I mean, of COURSE it sucks compared to that, lots of games do. But some people just enjoy the "What the hell is this?" factor of games like Time Slip. Especially since it's not like there are a lot of new games being made for SNES.

Have you ever played Imperium? I can't remember if you've talked about it (I watch a bunch of "retro" game channels), but it is also published by Vic Tokai. It seems like they were content to release "competent copies" during this period (Krion Conquest, Kid Cool, Clash at Demonhead). It's very clearly a ripoff of M.U.S.H.A. on the sega genesis. However, it has a pretty interesting power up system that is "RPG-like" (your score is an experience counter, and you get new weapon upgrades as you "level up"). I remember it getting very difficult very quickly, but I was in grad school at the time (coincidentally for graphic design)

IMO this one looks more fun in video's than it really is. I found it pretty tedious and frustrating since enemies take so many shots to kill and if you lose your power ups, you may as well restart.. An oddity to check out, but one that I bought very cheap and traded after spending a small amount of time with it.

Just picked this game up today. As far as run 'n gun games go my only complaint besides pretty bad artwork is that the character is pretty slow with more of a jog than a run. Other than that this is a pretty good poor man's Contra.

My great uncle and aunt bought this for me on Christmas when i was in the 2nd grade.... I think it was the fifth game I owned? This was back in the time where if we got a game for christmas, that was it for the year. Barely got rentals... The only other games we had to play besides this were Yoshi's cookie (boring AF), Super Earth Defense Force (fun, but really hard), Street Fighter 2 the world warrior, and Super Ghouls N Ghosts (which was the first game my parents bought us--yeah). I hate this game. It's levels are way too long and it's very forgettable.

I got this game recently. It's a poor man's Contra. The mid bosses take way too long to kill. Probably best played with save states or getting infinite lives somehow. Actually I think I read that this game is impossible to complete lol

It's not, but if you lack the powerups, the final boss has a moment where, yes, you can't actually beat it even with save states. So you HAVE to plan ahead and not die before the final boss.
