+UKWMO Yes it's a sad sight, it had nearly finished the task of backfilling a trench, when it got stuck, and the tide came in submerging the engine and cab, the driver had to get in the boat fixed to the side of the machine, and head to shore, a team emptied the diesel tanks this afternoon, and it looks like a barge with a big crane will be sent to recover the excavator, but it could take a while to get to the rampion offshore site.

Wonkabar007: Oh dear. Quite a costly problem I would say. Can't imagine what that salt water has done to the engine. I'm sure working in salt water wouldn't do the lower half any good anyway with the bearings and moveable parts being the most affected.
