As one of the twelve people who apparently still plays this game, I'd just like to say it's my favourite one in the franchise. And no, I'm not willing to fight anyone who disagrees. I just love the "stranger in a strange land" vibe it gives. But sidenote: "Sniper Elite IV: Italy". "Sniper Elite V: France". Why is III called "Sniper Elite III: Africa"? By that standard both IV and V ought to be called "Sniper Elite: Europe". Ah well. 🤫
@Analog_Nightmare2 жыл бұрын
Don't worry my friend I'll fight em for you haha. Also that's a good point, I always thought it was a reference to the Afrika corps but you're right, the later games are just place names so that theory kinda goes out the window... Anyway thanks for the comment and the watch, I hope you enjoyed! I'm writing SE5 as we speak. :)

3 takes place all over the North African theatre so I guess that's why they went with the name to just generalize the North African Front in general plus it might be a reference to the Afrika Korps. 4 and 5 mostly take place in a single country but I do think they have several missions in other countries so I genuinely have no clue

As much as I enjoyed this game, I was deeply disappointed that we didn't get to fight the Rat tank at the end, real missed opportunity after all that buildup. Sure it might have been crazy, but having to duck, weave and sneak through the rocky desert as the Rat drives around, dodging its massive arsenal and taking potshots at the few precious weak points and having to run up occasionally for a strategic satchel charge placement could have made for a great final boss, and test the player on everything they've learned.

Especially since we've had to do exactly that for some of the smaller tanks!

3:40 Having played 5 and 4 first, that relocation mechanic really annoyed me at first. Having to leave a good spot after one shot, run 40 yards, then run straight back and hide in the exact same spot.

For me the Confrontation mission ending was so anticlimactic. Killed all the snipers in that final open area, screwed around for 5 minutes looking for the dude and when i finally spotted him I just shot him in the neck, roll the credits. He was not even looking at me. That last fight could have been so much better
@Analog_Nightmare Жыл бұрын
Exactly. I had better sniper battles with random soldiers throughout the campaign, and when we finally encounter someone that's Sniper Elite(r) than you it's the easiest encounter in the game.
@guvyygvuhh298 Жыл бұрын
@@Analog_Nightmare And I say it could have been so much better bcz of one thing SE3 does so much better than SE4 and that is sniper encounters. In SE3 they are almost always hidden on ridges or bushes and have very good sightlines while in SE4 they are in rather obvious spots and bcz the maps are so open u can just avoid them most of the time. Another thing that makes SE3 snipers so much more dangerous is the scope glint, its dim, very brief and it only happens every 10 or so seconds if they are looking directly at u compared to the 15kW searchlight surgically attached to their forehead in SE4.

I wish Rebellion had watched this video before releasing Sniper Elite 5 as it explains what makes SE3 a good game. Things that are sadly missing from SE5 like good level design and actual sniping. I hate all the up-close nonsense in SE5. I like to bide my time and tag everyone before dishing out gonad shots.
@Analog_Nightmare Жыл бұрын
Okay first of all- amazing comment, I'm extremely flattered. Second of all I think I might've figured it out. I've been really conflicted on SE5, and I think we're seeing the Zombie Army games (and that other spin-off I forget the name of) bleeding into Sniper Elite. Those have essentially exclusively up-close encounters and I wonder if it got the devs in that mindset, they started thinking about ways to improve that gameplay and letting the sniping fall by the wayside?
@evilutionltd Жыл бұрын
@@Analog_Nightmare SE5 is just Zombie Army and Call Of Duty crossed with Hitman. I look forward to watching the upcoming video on SE5 as you'll probably be able make my thoughts and feelings of the game into understandable sentences and probably explain the 1 missing thing that makes it less good than SE4. I just can't put my finger on what it is.

Finished replaying through this game recently, I was a bit bummed out there wasn't scene where you had to chase and board the Ratte as it was escaping as I really wanted to see the interior of this Nazi super tank and it felt like a missed oppurtuninty, but besides that, yeah this is now my favourite Sniper Elite game. Really loved the African setting, it was a nice break after having played so many WW2 games set in Europe.
@Analog_Nightmare6 ай бұрын
100% agree with the African setting, Rebellion makes really convincing worlds, and I think they did a great job for a point of WW2 that while not neglected, doesn't get what we got for Europe.
