Very informative and enjoyable review, Joe. Do you know the exact size of the SE4 Deluxe Edition on Xbox one. Seems kinda incorrect in the store (like 84 GB). I can't find info in other sites. It's on sale right now but I need to be sure. 😅

Sadly I do not! I own it on ps4 and they don’t put that stuff up on the store. It is worth getting and I’d be surprised if it was that big, but then again they do not compress a lot of stuff nowadays and installs have ballooned!

One of the best sandbox stealth games I’ve played, had a ton of fun with it. Very well-balanced in terms of difficulty too, which is not always the case with these kind of games. Felt like it didn’t have enough recognition in its time and it’s a bummer

This never was my genre previously.. But I’ve become somewhat of a war historian in recent years.. I really wanna learn how to play this kinda stuff so I picked up a few of these Sniper Elites.. Also MGS 4 which was the one mainline one I didn’t own..

@@Mintcar923 if you’re new to the series and are not fond of older games then I’d start you out on mgs 3 the subsistence version. Get you hooked! Then mgs 1,2, 4. Or just run through in order if you’re ok with older titles. Peace walker is great but personally I’d skip 5. I hate it, lots of character inconsistencies and uninteresting objectives. Mechanics are the smoothest but I don’t like much else

I loved the first two but I find the open world approach of the newer ones to be very daunting. There are so many enemies you can aggro so quickly if you don't take half a year lining everything up right. I know Silencers weren't common back then but I really wish I could play with a permanently silenced rifle and treat it more like a shooting gallery setting up environmental kills and properly clearing the field.

I know 4 has a silenced sniper rifle as part of its expansion pass. You can also equip a lot of silent sniper ammo too

Yes, if you unlock the option, you can use up to 3 slots with silenced ammo for your rifle. Also, in every level there are a few spots with more silenced ammo. Finally, the Delisle Carbine is DLC weapon with only silenced shots. It's very interesting to use this weapon, the game changes considerably. No need to think where to use silent ammo, no need to mask sounds. And you can use the 3 slots for something else. If you want to play the game more like a normal shooter with a faster rhythm, you should try this weapon!

You nailed how special this series is, especially "Sniper Elite 4", another perfect review my friend, quite enjoyable! The first "Sniper Elite" on the old Xbox is I think the hardest one, then "Sniper Elite V-2" is the 2nd hardest as it's quite linear with few strategies to exit once you're discovered. "Sniper Elite 3" was a quantum leap from "V-2" but easier to escape & hide as the somewhat larger open world areas made getting away more viable, I loved the refinements. "Sniper Elite 4" & all it's DLC expansions are fantastic, I lovingly took my time & snuffed out every single Nazi on every mission map. I made a very kool montages of it's "Kill Cam" on my channel, I own all of them & all the "Nazi Army Trilogy" along with "Nazi Army Dead War" & all the DLC, such a wonderful array of outstanding games from Rebellion, I love their games to death! I pre-ordered the "Sniper Elite 5 Deluxe Edition" for my PS4 Pro, extremely excited as it within my Top 3 favorite modern game series! With all this new online multi-player crap I'm hoping it's still playable offline like all the others, which is my only concern.

I find the kill cam very annoying. Gets old after 3-4 times, and really breaks the immersion. If I recall correctly, I turned it off pretty quickly.

These games are basically WW2 Splinter Cell. I can't believe I haven't played these till now. The title Sniper Elite has held these games down financially. I think, like me, many people got these confused with the other Sniper games.

The series didn't start to get good to me until Elite 3. I played V2 and it felt way too linear for my tastes, it was hard to play stealth. 3 and 4 are pretty good and underrated games. All though I didn't know 4 made it easier with the sniping, I played it on easy due to the sniping being more simple. I didn't know Cortez's VA voiced the MC in these games, that's pretty cool. I am looking foward to Elite 5 since it's an actual stealth game coming out and not some open world skill tree outpost clearing bullshit.

Yea I still enjoy 2 even though it is not as smooth and very linear! 3 is where the series really started to be realized

Thank you so much for making this video! SE4 is one of my favorite games I've ever played, and I'm glad you liked it! One thing I really love about this game is how it seems _perfectly_ designed for "actual" stealth and "no one will notice if there's no one left _to_ notice" stealth! You can sneak around and only take out n@zis when necessary, or you can try your luck and go full-on Inglourious Basterds on em! Another thing I love is the H!tler DLC-the setup is that Karl was sent to an Axis navy base to assassinate a n@zi admiral, only to (by sheer coincidence) find the admiral's body after he was killed by H!tler him-fucking-self... and it's still warm, meaning H!tler is still here. I like this right-place-right-time setup better, since I doubt they'd send just one guy to kill H!tler if they actually knew where he was. From there, once you're inside the base, you have a boatload (or, should I say, U-boat-load!) of options to choose from! You can just plain shoot him, drop a ceremonial stone eagle on his head, blow up a torpedo rack in his face, plant a land mine in his path, wait for him to run for his escape boat and blow him out of the water, and several more!! So many possibilities to end this SOB, and I love every last one of them! The level is designed almost PERFECTLY to both look like an actual naval base AND provide some amazing sniping and stealth opportunities! Truly one of the best DLCs I've ever played-maybe THE best! Also, you're killing H!tler, so obviously it's gonna be good lol. Can you tell I like this game?

Though I will say it’s rather unfortunate that Rebellion is getting a little too greedy with Zombie Army 4’s over use of DLCs and having the kill Hitler mission be day-one dlc for Sniper Elite 5. I just hope they don’t jump the shark. But it’s great this game’s going to be on Game-Pass day one.

Great essay, well done. As it turns out, (imo anyway), SE4 is still the best in the series. I’m still trying to figure out why I bounced off 5 as much as I did, given my love of 4, but I couldn’t bring myself to complete it….I’ve still half a campaign left….whereas I was back in 4 as recently as last weekend and having an absolute blast (pun intended).
