When I was going for a service star on every primary, I picked up the SVD and barely managed to get the excrutiating hundred kills. I immediately put the controller down and switched to another kit the instant the star popped up on my screen. But when I came back to the game, I needed something to get myself thinking like a strong mid-range recon player, I picked up the Dragnov again, and I found it very agreeable with a foregrip. The recoil recovery lines up very well with the spread recovery.

Hey Level, just a note on semi-autos. Honorable mention of the foregrip attachment. Since one of the patches foregrips on semi-autos reduce the vertical recoil as well making the gun more stable when firing multiple shots, and allowing you to take your second shot just a little faster. The accuracy loss isn't really noticeable especially if you're doing mostly medium range engagements.

The Xbow is a nice secondary replacement. It can be used as a suppressed shotgun in CQ, a grenade launcher in spots that need a hole in a wall, a slow firing/low velocity shot sniper rifle and/or a temporary TUGS of a predetermined area.

LevelCap, as a daily viewer I would love to a quick, four episode series, showcasing your all-time favorite classes for each class. An average commentary showcasing your favorite load-out with favorite attachments, sidearm, etc. This can be based on your service stars with each weapon, or just over-all preference. Either way, I'm sure a lot of us would like to know what you're number one weapon is for each class, and see how you perform when using that setup.

Semi auto snipers are extremely effective in conquest as long as you know how to use them. Preferably with a 8x scope and a bipod. Also a great counter-sniper weapon for sniper heavy maps (like Gulf of Oman)

IF you are willing to spend hours mastering it and becoming accustomed to ALL of it's shortcomings. The LSAT really has a very niche role. For a while the Type 88 was my 3rd most used gun, but that was before they actually buffed the PKP, M60, and M240B. Now, those LMGs are so much more versatile and powerful, considering they will kill enemies faster at any range compared to the LSAT/Type 88. LSAT has a place, but it's not for most players.

The combination Semi-Auto SR and crossbow is also nice if you use it for the scanbolt. A bit clunky because you have to reload it every time you respawn, but nevertheless very nice. the way you use it is also nice, as a silent one-shot backup for close quarters, but since I often run with a silencer, the need for another silent weapon isn't as big. And yes, the lower bullet velocity makes this more of a close-medium setup.

They really held back the SVD in this game. It out class' a SKS both in bullet size and range in real life yet the sks is a crazy powerhouse in this game.

guys if you want hip fire from a sniper rifle trust me use the sks with foregrip and laser sight. it may not be the best weapon stats wise but it fells so meaty and with a 20 round mag you can hip fire even at medium range. plus it feels awesome hip firing 5 rounds into someone from point blank range even if you can do it in 3.

You don't get a hitmarker when you miss... A combination of suppression, recoil, player movement, and general gun inaccuracy, do a pretty good job of preventing the SVD's shots from landing on target.

You know levelcap, a huge part of success when using very similar weapons (jng-90/l96) (SVD/M110) is the asthetic appeal. If you have a weapons that "looks off" performance can be inferior. Bit of a placebo, but when the stats have that little of a difference, I always go with the one that "looks cooler". Thus, I prefer the SVD.

Keep your distance. For example, on this map avoid the center of a map with containers because that's where shotgun players operate.

I think that high RoF for semi-autos isn't that much of an advantage. What you should be doing is: Look for enemies, aim, shoot, take aim again, shoot, and repeat calmly. All though, the higher damage and the lower multipliers can definitely make up for the reload speed and overall accuracy.

You forgot to add that the reason for this video is to analyze snipers and give gameplay advice which doesn't mean he has to put gameplay at all. He could just go in front of the camera and talk. I also agree with everything you have said so far.

LevelCap since the svd has the same bullet velocity as the sv98 it's a good start since if you can hit heads with it you can hit heads with the sv98.

The tension of a cross bow is very very strong, my compound bow can be tightened to have 100 pounds of pressure, when released the bolt can go threw a deer easily basically tension is key to the bolts momentum.

its not a fail on dices part, its the SVD, made originally by Russia, who in BF3, you're facing. You got a number of sniper rifles to choose too, and its all about personal preference

Not always. I tend to use the M17 and the SVD in close to medium range engagements and I think that the SVD and the MK11 just don't come up to par with the M17 and the SVD.

Semi auto snipers have the same damage multipliers as the bolt actions, so it's more like one shot to the head within ~50m, and not 15m.

Ghillie suits in bf3 would make a tonne of people say they are copying CoD and im sure we all want to avoid another FPS flame-war. However instead of camo i think things such as less time being spotted and 50% opacity on the minimap marker when firing would work fairly well.

the head shot multiplier for the snipers is 2.4X so you con head shot one shot up to 45m

the only way that most guns that fire 7.62x54r ,like the svd, beat most 7.62x51 ,most U.S. sniper rifles, is armor penetration. The 7.62x54r ammo is generally steel core. Its not ap but it is a lot harder than lead core rounds.

the SKS is actually a pretty good gun. since you are going for the JNG-90, just use the SKS with Iron sight on TDM Norshal Canal. i got it in 2 games.

I love the SKS. Superb hipfire, high rate of fire and 20 rounds in the magazine makes the lower damagemodel irrelevant.

I play on 360 and I really like B2K and Aftermath dlc's. Close Quarters is ok, small maps w/ 16 players is usually more action packed if that is what your looking for

1. Make a 2 shot at long range, 2. Remove spread from the SVD making recoil the only thing that throws off accuracy, and 3. Give it a heavy barrel. How would you buff it?

camoflague, giving recon an increased stealth makes it more realistic, and with how dice say it, recon is a sniper, and snipers need ghille suits in desert, artic, jungle, and urban (depending on area for urban)

If you want to purchase a DLC I would go with Back to Karkand because you get 4 GREAT maps and 10 guns to unlock, most of them being very good. But if you don't care about the guns and just want good maps, Aftermath is probably the most fun overall.

You should try the 416 silenced with the foregrip and the holo. It's great for a quick 2 shot kill and staying of the mini map.

hmm, on symthic (website), they have listed all stats about the bf3 weapons, and when comparing SVD and MK11, the only diffrence is the muzzle velocity: SVD 530 m/s and MK11 550 m/s. So acording to symthic, the MK11 is sligthly better, the bullet wont drop as fast as for the SVD (not that big diffrence anyway)

As for CQC, any experienced recon player will have a good sidearm like the M9, Rex or 93R. I find that to be more than enough.

I'm surprised how many people don't realize that this a team oriented game. I was playing Seine Crossing conquest earlier with my buddy and there was a bunch of high ranking players that played the whole game camping in C. Sure they got a bunch of kills, (I think the top guy had like 80 something kills and less than 10 deaths) but they lost the game, because they didn't want to cap the objectives.

G3a3 is a pure beast combat rifle Takes some getting use too. Real hard intial recoil but u can level out and manage it. An-94 is the same way. Its managable major skill is needed by all those weapons. Semi snipers are great for different situations. I have different setups for different situations on my rifles

Have a go at the QBB-88 I had a go at this today and on a 200% grand bazaar match I went 60-20 not bad. Only better by a medic who got half the amount of kills but went Rambo with the paddles.

Level you are wrong about one thing. The sniper rifles has a 2.4x headshot multiplier, making the svd capable of oneshotting people over 15 meters (where the 50 damage starts dropping), at roughly 42 meters.. Correct me if I am wrong.

Realistically, The SVD has a bullet velocity of about 2700 FPS and the Mk.11 has a bullet velocity of about 2500 FPS.

In hardcore spotting isn't that useful HUD wise but I still mash the select button (i play Xbox) because the character still yells that their is an enemy over there which is helpful at long ranges or if your not sure if its a soldier

Statistically the M39 EMR has the highest bullet velocity and accuracy, so for actual sniping that the way to go.

i say sv98 is a good bolt action to start with it shows u a bit how sniping works in battlefield but i think the 2 best bolt actions sniper rifles in the game r l96(long bullet range and accurate) and so is the m98b as for semi autos m93 for

They could have given the SVD a similar damage model as the SV-98. Have it holds it's max damage slightly longer than Mod 11 to make up for the slower reload times.

Coming from a background in competitive CS, I always pride myself in only using bolt-action rifles in any FPS. It's just my opinion but it seems really cheap using semi-automatic sniper rifles. I'm not saying it doesn't require skill because you still need to compensate for bullet drop and what not but the leniency between shots is much too much. I feel by using bolt-actions, you learn to make every shot count and that carries over to any other weapon.

Generally in close quarters, a shotgun will almost always win. Best you can do is try to fire first and not miss. IMO the only thing that beast a shotgun in the hands of a player who knows what he's doing is a fast firing PDW. And it is still tough. Shotguns do have a con though: if you miss a shot with them, it's very very bad.

I wanna know want other people think of this. When I started playing BF3, I decided to stop using weapons once they hit 5 stars. 'Cause of it, I'm now bored because my selection is small for the Assault and Recon classes. Although I also decided that once I get all weapons to 5 stars for a class all use the weapons freely.
