Best shot using my sniper was during a tournament. It was objective based, out of 5 I held 2. My opponent held 2 and the last one was contested. Last activation of the last turn of the game was the sniper. I had range on the only guy holding one of my opponents objectives. Sniper hit, and killed that single guy which lost my opponent 1 objective. I now held 2 objectives to my opponents 1. So I won by objectives and that sniper was useless the entire game except for that final shot which proved to be the all important one. That was a very fun game too.

I always bring a sniper. Pros: - cheap order die - reliable source of a pin marker each turn - solution for air- or artilleryobserver and weaponteams - opponent might waste a turn firing on the sniper with something substantial Cons: - doesn't wound as reliable as hitting - less impact if no juicy targets are available - not so cheap if taken veteran and squishy if taken regular They are fun to play and the cheap order die does it for me. Never leave home without one. 😉

I always take a sniper. It's great for dealing with air/artillery observers. Also it's a reliable way of putting an additional pin on an enemy unit.

Soviet Sniper detachment's do a good job of negating the biggest drawback of the Sniper Team, Giving you 2 shot's instead of 1. They are pricey at 125 points, but they are Veteran troops.

The Soviets have the ability to upgrade to SMG's in most campaign books at least with my Road to Berlin and Fort. Budapest and Soviet Supplement. All the other factions are mott on this on what they can have or options.

A sniper is a sniper magnet. Put a regular sniper right next to your spotter guy and the spotter will live longer.

I see in the Campaign New Guinea book, the Netherlands East Indies (KNIL) guerillas can have up to three snipers in a squad. Does anyone have any experience of using multiple snipers?

For the limited number of games I play, I have been taking a sniper. I do understand the math isn’t in my favor, but the value I feel like I get is area denial and force my opponent to respect the sniper by staying out of sight and being more careful with movement. If I kill something, that’s great. But I don’t expect it

You know what annoys the absolute fuck out of me? The +2 points that US snipers cost.
@JaakkoTusa3 жыл бұрын
Sniper team can also upgrade pistols to SMGs for +5 pts per model (at least US), IIRC. What's your opinion about that - worth it?
@HollywoodWargaming3 жыл бұрын
Not worth it IMO. You’re paying for the Scoped special rule, may as well use it as much as you can.

Hey great video! I got a question, can I use a German tank in a U.S army? I was planning on adding a looted Stug or Panzer IV to my army
@maxfan159110 ай бұрын
Only if the list allows it. Captured tanks would have been incredibly unlikely in the US Army because they had so much equipment of their own. The US Army list book doesn't allow for it, but maybe someone knows if one of the campaign books allow for it for the USA. I know of four cases where lists allow for it, but none are for the USA. The Greek army can use captured Italian tanks; the Chinese armies can use captured Japanese tanks; the Australian army can use captured (Vichy) French and Italian tanks; and European partisans can use captured Axis tanks (up to medium tanks). The last is particularly useful, as this gives the partisans access to some pretty nice tanks, including the Panzer IV and the Panther. This is absolutely legit, as a Mark Felton video explains how French partisans counting as part of the renewed French army took possession of some captured German tanks to help them besiege French ports the Germans held from late 1944 to the end of the war. So...if you say your American infantry are actually American-equipped French as part of a partisan list (meaning you have the partisan special abilities and not the US special abilities) you can have "American" infantry with a captured German tank.

I had considered taking a sniper for my (yet to hit the field) Italian list, but decided on taking 50 points more worth of regular infantry instead. Said list is right at 1k, and I'd have to cut a mortar or MMG otherwise - which do you think is more valuable among those?
@HollywoodWargaming3 жыл бұрын
Medium Mortar IMO
@ME-hm7zm3 жыл бұрын
@@HollywoodWargaming Yeah I stuck with the 5 guys, MMG, and MM over taking the sniper (deciding 5 infantry were still more valuable than 1 sniper team).

What are your thoughts on inexperienced partisan sniper? Seems that snipers are prone to die easily and make up their points based on how temperamental your rolls are. The sniper rule overwrites the -1 from inexperienced and at 35 points (I think) it's a wash if killed.
@HollywoodWargaming3 жыл бұрын
I actually have not heard of them before. But honestly sounds like a great buy. My only concern would be them getting pinned out of activating, but an extra order die at 35 points is always acceptable
@villiamkarl-gustavlundberg54222 жыл бұрын
They would get -1 from being inex. Being inex and losing your loader arent the sort of modifiers snipers ignore.
@kanrakucheese2 жыл бұрын
@@villiamkarl-gustavlundberg5422 No, the rules for Sniper are clear “except for pinning markers and for the missing assistant if the sniper is the last man standing (most sniper teams have the team weapon special rule)”. It still ignores inexperienced. Given the only other mechanically unique units partisans have is a worse flamethrower and slight capacity/cost tweak on their car, I'm inclined to give them this. Also the flavor suggests someone who, while a good shot, is still unprepared for the rigors of combat (In-fact, I expect that if "Armies of Switzerland and the Neutrals" ever happens, ignoring the -1 to hit for inexperienced while retaining the other flaws would be how the training of universal conscription is handled as a national characteristic.)
