Haven't had a chance to test if it holds zero, but mounts just fine and has nice clear glass. Centered vertically true to a plumb line with the crosshairs which is always a plus!It's a great kzbin.infoUgkxc4K63Fd5LglDMObu7-Bgapxp_ef0W8hE scope. There's no parallax adjustment or focus ring, so may be limited to 3-7x, have to see how it is on the range. Also be aware that the rings are "look through" so you can still use irons, but they are really tall if you only intend to use the optics. On a 22LR no biggie since I'm not shooting competitions or worried about a hard cheek press. Will boresight and range test, if all goes well, I'll leave it at that!

wouldn't the magnification also depend on measurement calculations?
@johannesgh906 жыл бұрын
I'm not an expert but I've seen one scope with variable/adjustable magnification, and there it looked like the crosshair pattern (reticle) visually changed size as much as the thing being looked at when the scope was zoomed in/out. So it seems to me that since it changes with the magnification that would mean that it's a constant, at least practically speaking, in the calculation. It would also make sense to have the system standardized so you don't have to learn how to do this multiple different ways, but things don't always work out that way (e.g. SI vs. Imperial measurement units) so I still think you should definitely read your scope's manual and find out how to use your particular device.
@shelterskelter6 жыл бұрын
Ffp scopes keep the dots the same based on maginfication while second focal plane change with magnification. While his description is simple it also is very very inaccurate. You never guess at the number of mildots. You need to be extremely precise. .1 mill is a huge error at 800 to 1k metres.
@aaronunterseher16274 жыл бұрын
FFP (first focal plane) optics changes the scale of the reticle with the magnification... Example when your scope is a 3-15x44 FFP... At 3 magnification the redical will appear very thin sometimes almost so you can barely see it.. At 15 magnification it'll look very large even cutting off some of the useable adjustment area... The 44 means the objective size of the front glass allowing for light transfer..... Generally more power means bigger front glass for more light... The second kind of scope is a SFP (second focal plane) with this scope the redical will remain constant regardless of magnification... So now with this scope it's a.. 3-15x44 SFP... At 3 power the redical will appear the exact same way as it would at 15 power... Typically on SFP scopes maximum power is your true measurements.... So as you reduce the magnification the redical will begin measuring in multiples but the amount the magnification is reduced... So you reduce it by half the value of each dot in the scope is now double and so on from there...

How does one know the size of the object? If it’s not a human but let’s assume a building or other unknow object? Since we need that variable to find out the distance, is there a way to calculate the size of it using the mil dots?
@skylynne47452 ай бұрын
Ok so basically you would have to compare the size of the object with surroundings and try to guess. And yes you could calculate the size of it using the mil dots BUT you would need to know the distance then. Just like you need to know the height and number of mil dots to calculate the distance, you need the distance and the number of mil dots to calculate the height.

I've actually always done this accurately and I don't know how, hunting games and sniper games. It's weird how you can know ituitively how much to raise the scope for head shots or torso shots I think I got some sharpshooters ghost that follows me. I see the size of the object and I know how much to raise it based off the distance, because I know how big it'd be if it filled the whole scope. I know how to use mill dots but I don't actually understand the physics behind what's happening. It's super strange actually. This hunting game I have uses mill dots, and it could be 1200 feet away but as long as I can still see the animal I'll hit it's lungs if it's not moving. There's a reason for this too. But idk.

Maybe a simpler example from hunting. Target animal top of back to belly equals .5 meters. That’s a guess. Subtended distance equals 1 dot. .5 meter divided by 1 equals .5 meter. .5 times 1000 equals 500 meters. Work in meters because everything divides evenly. Or just use a rangefinder, the deer, etc. don’t shoot back.

What do you do if you can not see height
@screw19873 жыл бұрын
You would look at something on someone's body if you are shooting a person as an example - Something like their head. The average length of a face is about 11 to 12 cm. So in this example, you would take 11 x 10 and divide it by the mils height on the reticle. Based on the 3mil height calculation and shitty mil dot scope - its about 0.2 mils. My calculated range would be 550m. Pretty sure he said 566m - So if you have DOPE on your rifle and you can range it - Id be pretty confident im putting one through your chest without an issue - Give or take 10m of flex. ;-)

Any serious long range shooter will be shooting with the right reticle. Tremor 3 as an example - Hass mile an hr wind dot markers, So if you have a kestrel or wind measurement device - you can factor the shift. THere are other factors for Extreme long range - but distance to target - DOPE on the rifle and allowing for wind drift is about as much as you could do on the fly.

That's perfectly right explained. It would be a great even better, when you just say take mm, I know the US Americans struggle with math without conversations 😂, than it sound even easier. 1700 millimeters / 3 milliradiants (or MIL if you want) = 566m.
