I've fitted X and Y axis gauges to that exact same milling machine. You can also get a Bluetooth interface to a tablet and free software to make a full DRO setup. I didn't bother with the Z axis as there's already a readout on the machine. Thanks for the videos John, and all the best to Debs. TJ, Derbyshire

John consider turining your wiggler around putting the spring at the tailstock end. The end at the headstock that engages the pip can be turned at one shot making the center point and the surface that the DTI runs on perfectly concentric. The spring can be fitted on a shoulder at the tailstock end sized slighly less than the id of the spring. The spring can be held on the shoulder with a small screw radially into the bar at the headstock end of the spring. By having the spring extend about a 1/2" beyond the tailstock end of the bar and grinding the tailstock end of the spring square it can directly engage a tailstock center. Even if the spring runs out at the tailstock the effect at the headstock end of a reasonably long bar will be negilable. I have used such a wiggler with good results.

Karl, I think you're on to something there. Maybe on the trail stock end you can drill a hole for the spring. At the bottom of the hole make it slightly smaller for a friction fit to hold the spring in the drill rod. At the dead head end of the spring make a sliding button long enough to press against the dead center tip for your tension. The button can be friction fitted to the spring. Simple solid bar and no mill needed.

Is the collet holder custom or off-the-shelf? I've seen them for R8 mills n such, but not that mount in a 4jaw. Cool idea!

I just back-ordered a T-Shirt, and the website said they needed "0" (zero) additional orders to relaunch the campaign. I hope that means I'm getting one.
