Hi, try a releasing agent called DUCK OIL made by Comma (it contains no ducks) but it is far far better releasing agent and rust remover than WD40, it will NOT prevent rust, so oil after cleaning. and it has many other uses in the workshop.

I have suffered the same problem with flash rusting ever since I got my Chinese heater. Not blaming the Chinese for it though😂. It’s just one of those things. Great video John, thanks.

I have a similar measuring habit, but I always measure 3 times. I measure first then check it. Then I look away and forget what the $#&#@@! number was that I just measured. Then I measure again and make the cut.🤣

Too late now I kmow but you should try boeshield t-9 - as good if not better than WD40 at penetration but far better at long term rust protection as it leaves a thin coating of wax - developed for aircraft maitenance (I belive)

Chuck cleaning, remove jaws, set at max speed. Blow out with air, Stop. use battery drill to wind in and out the scroll with air blasting same time. Oil or grease the nipple. Job is a good un. Swarf and chips in the scroll will affect part concentricity. If the chuck closing or opening gets stiff, strip/clean it as above and you are good. Orphan material.....Trial and error ..Start with stainless data and adjust. Or chuck it in the scrap?

If you can't tolerate a little bit of swearing, you won't be able to tolerate spending time in workshops of any sort, or being around workmen in general. They're just words. In my country swearing is supported by the First amendment to the constitution. Freedom of speech. Stop being so self righteous folks. Taking the LORDS name in vain isn't swearing by the way. Claiming to represent God, to speak for God but live a life contrary to Him is taking His name in vain.

Swearing isn't covered by the1st amendment and Free Speech is not free of Consequences either...
@fredflintstone8048
@fredflintstone8048 Жыл бұрын
@@65cj55 All speech which means anything that comes out of a person's mouth or anything they write is covered by the First Amendment. That means swearing too. If a person suffers financial loss due to someone using the freedom to slander another and it can be proven that what they say is not true in a court of law, the speaker will have to compensate for the damages. That's a matter of law. Free speech can certainly have consequences, but that's a different topic. If the consequence is attempting to stop them from freely speaking that's a violation of the First Amendment. If one's freedom of speech insites someone to violence or some other action that's fine too. If free speech hurts the feelings of someone who disagrees, well, that's just too bad.

@@fredflintstone8048 The writers of the 1A were not thinking of your right to swear cuss and use offensive language bud, so don't be ridiculous, also good you realise there's consequences.....
@fredflintstone8048
@fredflintstone8048 Жыл бұрын
@@65cj55 Your argumentation is not relevant. On top of that you do not have a CLUE regarding what they had in mind. Just to clue you in a little bit the men who penned the constitution realized that people who wish to regulate free speech tend to create categories which is what you're doing. Notice that they didn't do that. Why? It was their desire to make it all inclusive. If you're thinking that men didn't swear back then, you're a bit out of touch with reality. You're the one who's being ridiculous, speaking presumptuously out your arse. However, the 1st amendment does protect your right to do so. Carry ON!!!🤣🤣🤣🤣

@crozwayne

@@VulcanBomberxm655 It's "have", no "of". And the swarf wouldn't turn blue as the lathe spindle speed isnt high enough. You need a fair bit of horsepower to do well with the steels you mentioned. a 140, while a good, robust little lathe doesn't have that level of power.
