This episode should have been captioned "Blazing Saddles", Johns' beans caught up with him. Like to see her on on dyno to measure the output.

Everything I learned about machining was based on rigidity, at about 2 minutes and 40 seconds, I was introduced to a toolholder that looks like a leafspring on a 1959 Chevy. I would like to know more about that!

Yes I thought that as well, it looked like it would take the first oportunity to dive under the work.

Nice work, John. That steam engine is a nice piece of kit, even with all the wallowed out holes and bastardised threads. Good to see some nice methodical assembly. All the best, Mart in Solihull.

The alignment dowel pins were a great idea. Nothing feels so nice as oiled bearings on a smooth shaft.

Oh the thousands we have in tools, but are stuck using pliers and an adjustable wrench/spanner because the tools are always at our workplace and we are at home or broke down along the road.

Ref Vevor products: id be interested in their hardened steel 3 Jaw lathe metalworking chucks.
@samrodian919 Жыл бұрын
I recently bought a vevor 125 mm three jaw chuck. For £45 it is a pretty good bit of kit. It seems well made and is nicely finished. As I had to make a backplate to fit my spindle I went the extra mile and put four pins locked into the backplate and put four set screws at 90 degrees to each other and made the backplate 2 mm larger on the register so that I can dial it in dead nuts and that gives me a precision three jaw with the outside jaws( my other three jaw which is slightly larger came without the outside jaws when I got the lathe)
