This Standard Azir & Renekton deck got 2nd place at the last EMEA open. Eimajrael created and piloted this deck to great success, finally showing the world the hidden potential of Mono Shurima when everyone considered the Sun Disc nothing more than a meme.

Deck creator here, glad you enjoyed the deck. Sorry for not following up on why you don't negate at 33:02 - it's because you're never going to run out of huge units, but that's literally the only spell interaction you've got. The only way to lose is burn, so no need waste your only deny to protect a 10/10 when the entire deck is about to be overstatted units. If anyone has any other questions feel free to ask.

Hey man! Would you make any changes to this for general laddering purposes? Or does this deck only do well with certain decks banned? Which matchups are the worst?

This is the deck I've been laddering with for 3 seasons now, the last change was swapping rock hopper for defenders a few months back. I'm around 450 LP at the moment, but the open meta was much kinder to it than ladder is. The worst matchup is Mordekaiser - they kill Renek and outvalue ascension.

​@@ReveredMaster If your main goal is to climb then no, this isn't a good deck to do that with. If you don't mind playing a subpar deck as long as you get to ascend sometimes then go for it. As a warning it doesn't play like a combo deck, in fact it's best to play for tempo against most decks, so piloting it can be unintuitive

Snuuuuy I have an interesting interaction for Path of Champions! If you play Aurelion Sol with his first star power: "When you play a created card, reduce the cost of allied champions everywhere by 1. When you play a champion, level them up." This power means you can level ascended champions to level 3 without meeting their conditions. For example, if you play Azir once, kill him, then play a second copy, he'll be level 3 instantly - which you could easily be doing by turn 3 or 4. You could possibly build a challenge around trying to get Azir Renek and Nasus to level 3 in a single match without restoring the Sun disc?

elder decks are kinda good atm and i hope they nerv him in a way like bard works so that u get rewardet for palying 3 and its bad having just 1 in for example 1: only 6+cost dragons get the boons 2: all 6+ units and champs get boons 3: u can find deathless in your boons (in 1/2 its impossible to get and then also elder dont gets it if u dont run 3)

I don't actually know about Defenders of the Sun Disc in this list... What do you think about them? I use them in my daybreak decks but I'm not too sure whether they're better than some combat tricks for renekton

I think that they are good for chumpblock, and since they draw themselves they thin your deck making your next draw more consistent so more combat tricks and more champions in hand

Deck creator here - defender of the Sun Disc is pretty terrible - you should never keep it in the mulligan - but it helps level Azir and get Shepard procs. If I had to cut anything it'd be that though

@@1Ferdku There's honestly not much else in Shurima that fits the deck. Voice of the Risen might be worth experimenting with, but that's worse for ascending with. I used to run Rock Hopper but I marginally prefer Defenders overall.

Step 1: Restore the sun disc. Step 2: Play 6 Level 1 Ascended champions. Step 3: Play Ascended's Rise to start the movie. The sun disc won't be included in the movie, but having an additional 2 level ups from the sixth champ is better.

I look at rotation and i just feel upset that the focus on region identity overshadowing the characters people like means my favorite deck cant be played in a normal season now i agree some toxic pairs makes the game difficult to balance but would remaking those cards not be better than "Removing" them from the playable section of the game
