Very interesting and proof that a good cue action isn't everything. Sighting correctly is massive and something I'll be working on as I feel I've been "looking around the corner" for some time now.

A lot of players do - we could possibly do a Cue Action Trainer session at some point to diagnose and solve all of that in one session. Full details of directions on how to reach The Snooker Gym Academy can be found here... or you could message mewww.thesnookergym.com/p/contact-us

Hi Nic, have to say I find this this so fascinating and also puzzling. When faced with longer pots such as a straight pot from the baulk line to object ball across from pink or black spot, I aim slightly right of straight into top right pocket and slightly left of straight into top left pocket. If I aim dead straight (full ball contact) i know I will miss to the side cushion. My cue is dead centre of my chin but I know my right eye is dominant and I’m right handed (I write left handed!). I never thought by moving my head across the cue could bring things in line. Can’t wait to try it out 👍

A simple way is to play ten straight shots from say 5 or more different chin positions and see which gives the best result. Make sure to let us know how you get on with it!

Snooker Coaching At The Snooker Gym okay, i think this is massive. Ive only had two practice sessions since i started working on aligning my right eye over the cue. In the first session, it felt strange on some shots and i missed an easy blue into the middle that i told myself I’d never have missed before. Anyway, after session two, it felt much more natural on all shots. I am no longer aiming to miss on certain shots in order to make them (if that makes sense) which is huge. As it turns out from the chalk mark on my chin, its only a fraction over from centre but feels like a much greater change than it is.

I would love to buy this product but it's not available. Here's what has been working for me. I've seen tremendous improvement by closing my non dominant eye when lining up my shots. This is the correct picture I believe because I'm nailing long shots on my 9 ft table like crazy now.When I miss its because of some other error in my stroke. And moving my body during the stroke etc. It would be nice to not have to do this and to use both eyes when lining my shots up. But until then I'm sticking with what works for me.

We have some available - but have almost sold out from this current batch: www.thesnookergym.com/cue-action-trainer-2019 Using both eyes will always be far superior than wearing a virtual eye patch

I have exactly the same issue , been seeing shots badly and compensating side to pot the ball. When i put centre chin on cue feels like i am putting lots of left side but in reality its not so i am used to this putting right hand side! How do i fix my issue? Tnx

You need to do a reliable vision centre test. We still have 9 of these remaining in this year's batch... which will give a bullet proof answer. www.thesnookergym.com/cue-action-trainer

Nic, using your cue action trainer. I 'd like to see a video with that trainer setup in the baulk area pointing straight down table at the pink spot dead inline. setup a pink on it's spot have the client drop down on the trainer with a cue ball setup in the front of the trainer and shot the pink with a stop shot. I think this will challenge their center ball cuing even further then shooting an object ball into a pocket, because the object ball might have had a slight amount of side transferred to it and that won't show if it drops into a pocket. But if there's a slight bit a side transferred to the pink when shooting baulk area to pink spot the pink will come off the back rail and miss the stunned cue ball to the right or left. Just a thought
@TheSnookerGym6 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your thought Keith Guenzel. What I have found is that, whilst setting up a straight ball without a pocket theoretically gives less distraction, aiming the ball towards a pocket is the best way to align centre cue ball, object ball, pocket, and line of aim. With the up and down example, if you put enough side on the cue ball to transfer to the object ball enough side to distort off the cushion you will be miles of line anyway. The amount of transferred side is, in my experience, almost always less than 5% of what people think it can be. It makes very little difference - uneven bounces off the cushion or jumpy rolls off the pink and black spots would make a bigger difference in my opinion

hi i have been having sighting problem for years now, i want to visit you, how much you charge just to fix my sighting problem? im right eye dominant but the cueing feels worse when put under right chin but feels better when put under left chin, however sightright says if you are right dominant then move ur entire body abit to the left. that made me confused, doesnt doing that move ur cue again to the right, or you have to use centre chin when moving to the left. been seeing many many coaches none could help me, i live in australia. i would like to travel to you, . thank you

Bad coaching techniques. At this level, you don’t go that deep into the details. Most these players are below average, so you need to work with them the strict fundamentals. Take a look at how a lad by the name of Barry Stark does it.
@Zombies8MyPizza6 жыл бұрын
Nothing wrong with this whatsoever. Getting your alignment right is absolutely crucial to becoming a consistent player. Barry Stark will invariably work with players on their alignment, he's just a bit more old skool and won't use a tool like this, but that's not at all to say what Nic is doing here is wrong.
@TheSnookerGym6 жыл бұрын
Thank you Robert Lander. Each person is different and has different needs... the level of detail required changes from player to player. For example, with some clients, I will just feel like I am skimming the surface as that is what they thrive on. With others, they need the reassurance of explanation. Many clients come to me precisely because other coaches have not been able to provide the level of detail their thinking style and 'evidence procedure' requires. In this case, to resolve a fundamental sighting error and get a player aiming correctly within 12 minutes is many years quicker than most people can do it on their own - that is if they are even able to correctly diagnose what their issue is.... which 99% of players are unable to do accurately. I love Barry's videos and think they are great.

Thank you for the backup Zombies Ate My Pizza! PS I went to Waitrose last night while England were playing the football world cup semi final. As there was virtually no one out at the time, I asked the young Asian staff member on the door deadpan: 'Excuse me, is there a Zombie Apocalypse?'. He was confused for a while and then simply said: 'I don't think so.'
