Butt size is an overlooked aspect. For natural/touch play, the squeezing of the butt is an important aspect. I see many players squeeze at the end of the stroke, instinctively for that exact oomph(non robotic cueing) . If the butt size is not proper, it will have an unwanted side effect at the tip end. Excellent videos. Keep them coming. I learn so much from your videos.

I know you said about the tall player myth, but how about a cue for a short player. I'm 5'6 and I am considering purchasing a 55 inch cue as I find 57-58 inch cues a bit long.

Mine is custom, bought it from a cue dealer from Northern Ireland, then I wanted thinner taper and titanium ferrule which was done by Daniel Bungda from Belgium

Hi, the taper of my cue was also changed to thinner (even lower deflection). Throw when using side was reduced massively - on my first break off I didn’t hit the reds because the white wasn’t pushed at all. Yes I managed to get used to it pretty quickly. Probably it took me a month or so…

i use a graphite wrap cuetec with a 10 mm tip. i find i play well with it but sometimes struggle with short to mid range shots. do u think a smaller tip or regular wooden cue would help? thanks

Don’t think so. Find what is the technical reason for your misses.

If the cue is thinner at the last 20 cm towards the tip it deflects less

Without a doubt go for a cue that has a rigid shaft; the most rigid shafts are made of Canadian Maple; a cue with a Canadian Maple shaft will make it easier to play long distance pots easier; plus when energy flows through the Maple shaft it doesn't lose any of the energy flowing through it, and a rigid shaft will also make it easier to play long distance shots where you need to apply spin, applying spin is easier on a Maple shaft. Vast majority of people go for Ash shafts primarily because of aesthetics, to them the grain makes it look better, but Ash shafts are more whippy thus less rigid than Maple shafts. Another factor which disrupts the flow of energy from the butt to the shaft are brass joints, therefore I highly recommend that you get a bespoke cue made with what is known as a 'Invisible Join', while it will have a brass pin, the surrounding area is entirely wood which helps natural flow of energy from the butt to the shaft. I also recommend that you opt for a cue that weighs at least 20ozs, 22ozs max, this will also make it easier to play long distance screw-back shots easier. Finally, for Snooker on a Full-Size table I recommend that your cue's ferrule diameter be 10.0mm minimum, but no more than 11.0mm.

Did you bought your cue with this ferrule or the guy in Belgium changed it? And if yes did your cue become shorter with this ferrule change!
@SnookerCoachBrando3 жыл бұрын
I wanted thinner taper and to shorten the cue with 1 inch. Daniel Bungda from Belgium done than. Not possible to install titanium ferrule without shortening the cue. Think the minimum is about 5mm, which you will feel.

Less flex = Low Deflection (Predator Revo) More Flex = High Deflection (Old Mucci) Depends on the player preference. Some like a certamount of Deflection. Some want as little as possible. Depends on what you learned to play with. ... ..
