I know this is a side issue ,but who is down voting a snooker instruction video? Is it someone you beat in a comp or something, have you got a disgruntled ex mrs 😀 I find it really strange. There are a few good people doing tutorials on snooker and they all get down votes, I don't get it.

Me neither, probably some one who considers himself to be a good player and this is too easy for him, for a novice this is a good lesson

One difference I have noticed between pool and snooker players is the pool players tend to leave their chalk on the rail when at the table and snooker players carry it around in their pockets. What makes that relevant to this video here, is there anything in the rules of either game to stop a player using either their chalk left on the rail or a chalk finger mark on the rail cushion cloth to act as a reference point when trying to escape?
@rjsmithy93
@rjsmithy93 4 жыл бұрын
Interesting question, as far as I'm aware you are not allowed to mark the cloth of the table or cushion with chalk as it would effect the run of the balls, but I don't think there is anything in the rules to stop you leaving chalk on the side of the table as a reference point. It's hard to say exactly as you'd never really see a pro doing it, so you'd also never really see a WPBSA Referee's decision on it.
@eastyboyisme
@eastyboyisme 4 жыл бұрын
In both pool and snooker chalk is not allowed to be left as a "marker". You'll notice that in any competition game being refereed, the player wouldn't do it because he knows it's risking being called a foul. Putting chalk on the rail is not a foul. Using a "marker" of any form is a foul. So if the referee thinks that your intention was to use chalk or anything else as a marker then it will be called a foul. The same is for putting your tip on the table while lining up your shot. This is done a lot in pool. However if you leave a chalk mark on the cloth that the referee deemed as an assist for the shot you're attempting then it will be a foul if you executed the shot that the mark was deemed assisted by the mark you left. However, you can use an mark on the cloth or a chalk on the rail as a reference if it was already there before your shot.
