@@GelroDern November 2024, and yes. I tested the scan tools mentioned in this video using a set of bluetooth headphones nearby, and it did not pick them up. I was using an MSi gaming laptop, so the hardware should have seen it. Not sure if it's a hardware issue on my end or a software update issue on theirs, but I didn't see any real use from these services even though they are technically running

Get someone to connect by bluetooth using a social engineering technique in your bluetooth device name. You can then read out the phonebook using AT commands. There used to be a time you could also read/delete messages but I'm pretty sure that can't be done any more due to security risks, but I may be wrong. Leaving bluetooth on and discoverable is not a good idea. Where I am, you'll get annoying advertising boards trying to connect to give you ads (and maybe do something else unknown). EDIT: Apologies if a duplicate comment is here. I think I entered some 'banned word' and my last comment managed to disappear (to me anyway), when I tried to edit it.

for me i have galaxy s5 and there's an option to hide my bluetooth and make it visible only for paired devices i tried to scan my s5 bluetooth with kali linux and it didn't find it so i had to make my s5 to be visible for all nearby devices to let kali detect the bluetooth

Hi there! I'm trying to pair a bluetooth audio transmitter to my pc, but it is not discoverable in just normal bluetooth menus on both linux and windows. It does however connect perfectly fine to bluetooth headsets when both are in pair mode. When i use hcitool scan it also doesn't pick it up. Is there a way to discover certain type of bluetooth devices?

@NullByte - I was following your video and up until btscanner to get the GUI to open, that's where it stops working for me. When I type btscanner this is the only thing I get: root@kali:~# btscanner Opening the OUI database Reading the OUI database Finished reading the OUI database root@kali:~# No window opens. I have done update and upgrade command. I ran the commands to make sure I had the full installation of Kali. I also installed the Bluetooth tool package, and I still get the same results. There is no bluetooth devices nearby you, if you are connected to it then disconnect and put it in pairing mode or bluetooth mode just make sure you don't/is not connected/connect to the bluetooth device it should show up.

Plenty of those on KZbin. I would learn the terminal commands first, do some free online basic networking courses, learn bash for making scripts to speed up tasks or make shortcuts. The majority of the pentest tools kali comes with have a gui or graphical interface for you to use but in my opinion it's better to learn the cli version or command line interface versions for multiple reasons and also because it uses less of the system resources and generally works faster. Then watch a few pentest tool tutorials and try to hack some old working android phone you might have or move on to hacking windows using a metasploitable vm or just a windows vm (virtual machine). Or maybe you just wanna learn code and there's plenty of websites that offer tutorials on any language out there. You may enter Linux communities for questions or errors you may have, every nerd on there gets their ego stroked by answering questions of others so your questions are likely to get answered lol

Most people boot kali off a usb. Using a 16gb or 32gb usb would be convenient, download the latest kali linux ISO from offensive security, it takes some time to download depending on your internet speed. Recently, the kali developers switched the kali desktop environment from Gnome to XFCE, I personally use the gnome version still which is also the environment used in most kali tutorials including in this video so installing the gnome version might make it easier for you to find your way around kali. Next step is to look up "live usb kali persistence" on youtube and follow the steps on the videos. Persistence is what allows new files to stay and file changes to save after restarting your computer and is essential for kali.

I have the Alfa with the two antennas and also THINK I have it UP when I check with the HCI command (says it's up but I don't see any difference when unplugged). I can ping devices and read names but nothing else and this was the same before I had the adapter. Yes, the adapter is connected to the VM.
