So we are back with another reaction this time we are in 1971 for the original Willy Wonka played by the late great GENE WILDER! This is WILLY WONKA AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY! A sweet boy from a poor family dreams of finding one of five golden tickets hidden inside chocolate bar wrappers which will admit him to the eccentric and reclusive Willy Wonka's magical factory. One after another, tickets are discovered by ghastly children - but will the lad find the last remaining one and have all his dreams come true? This is more of a musical themed film Gene wilder is amazing in capturing Who Willy Wonka is and leaves you with an awesome message!

Gene Wilder told the director he wanted Wonka's introduction to be him faking a limp and doing a somersault. He said he would not do the movie unless they add that scene. When asked why, he said it was because from that point no one would be able to tell if he was lying or telling the truth.

- At 22:48, that was actually the actors' (Except Gene Wilder) REAL reactions to seeing the chocolate room for the first time. They hadn't seen the room until their real reactions were filmed on camera. - And also, the limping and somersault that Gene Wilder did during his introduction was improvised and it was the reason why Gene Wilder accepted the role of Willy Wonka. When Gene was approached by the filmmakers for the role, he said he would accept the role on the condition that his character could trick the audience into thinking he was a cripple and then surprise them with his somersault. When asked why, Gene said that "from that time on, no one will know if I'm lying or telling the truth." Basically, what he's saying is that the limping and somersault is supposed to foreshadow Wonka's dubious and unpredictable behavior that he displays throughout the rest of the movie. - Also if you were wondering what Wonka was saying at 27:04? He was saying in French, "Um, ladies and gentlemen. We're now going to have to make the trip short by boat. (Mr. Salt: What's he talking about?) Who wants to ride on the.....Wonkatania?" And also at the part where they arrive at the Inventing Room, Wonka says to the tour in German, "Ladies and gentlemen, please give me your attention. (Mrs. Teavee: That's not French.) We've now come to the most interesting room in my factory and the most secret room at the same time. (Mr Salt: I can't take much more of this.) Ladies and gentlemen....the Inventing Room."

Great reaction! I love this movie to death. Gene Wilder was just so Perfect for Willy Wonka. i did enjoy Charlie and the Chocolate factory that i just saw the other day for the first time hehe. i do plan on seeing Wonka. Peter Ostrum (who played Charlie) didn't stay with acting. He grew up to become a large animal veternarian in Upstate NY. I knew the Actress who played Violet (Denise Nickerson). The Ompalumpa actors banged her head into the door frame as they were rolling her to the juicing room and she recieved a concussion. She said that the actress who played Baruka was really nice in real life and nothing like her character. Except for the accidental concussion she had fun making the movie. Everthing in this movie is {ractical (an acual set or a miniture model). Unlike the Johnny Depp version which used extensive CGI. Which was more Magicial?

This one holds a special place for me, but I appreciate both adaptations for what they are. Tim Burton’s adaptation is the one Dahl would have probably liked, and that’s great that it exists. 1. I first saw it when I was 10. 2. Roald Dahl the book author was a well-known LSD user. (you can see why) He didn't like this adaptation, so we were cursed with "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory". 3. The Umpa Lumpas told the reverent portion of the story. Anything beyond that would have been unnecessary and overkill 4. I suspect Wonka knew which children would win the tickets (lessons for our behalf) because Slugworth/Mr. Wilkinson was at the scene almost immediately. 5. Many people (especially women) seem to get a creepy feeling from Gene Wilder's Willy Wonka. 6. This is the only roll Peter Ostrum/Charlie. He's now an veterinarian. 7. After reading the script, Gene Wilder said he would take the role of Willy Wonka under one condition: that he would be allowed to limp, then suddenly somersault in the scene when he first meets the children. When director Mel Stuart asked why, Wilder replied that having Wonka do this meant that "from that time on, no one will know if things are real or not." Stuart asked, "If I say no, you won't do the picture?" and Wilder said, "I'm afraid that's the truth." 8. If you look carefully, you can see the little girl in the candy shop get wacked on the chin when the candy man opens the flip up counter. 9. Fun fact: Veruca/Julie Dawn Cole didn't have any adult with her when they went to Germany to film the movie so Gene Wilder himself stepped in to make sure she was taken care of.😎 10. You can get away with anything in a musical.

Yeah because gene wilder acts like a asshole in this movie like screaming at a 10-year-old kid. For no reason willy wonka doesn't act like this in the book. I like this movie but some people think this is the greatest movie of all time now I'm tired of people. Not reading the 2 books of this story the roald dahl hated this movie even when he saw the witches by jim Henson he hated that movie too he died in 1990
