This program brought back many beautiful memories from my childhood. We had a VCR (BetaMax) at home and I think my uncle lent us a previously recorded BetaMax cartridge from TV, specifically this special program "Snoopy Musical on Ice". It was the first time we could watch TV in color. Back in 1978...a long time ago

27:58 "Un-Conventional Entertainment" promo shows that this was counter-programming to the Big 3's political convention coverage. KHTV Houston also used this slogan, and probably other independents across the country. I recall reading in the paper that the indies drew lots of viewers away from the networks when the conventions were on.

59:28 The Republicans were meeting, as the news brief reminded viewers. Field Communications was part of Field Enterprises, which owned the World Book Encyclopedia. Needless to say, World Book ran a long biography of the Field family, which would be shortened when the encyclopedia was sold.

Never knew this special existed, I guess it never got much replay like many other Snoopy material. Pretty much almost lost media in that case. Even more surprised that it was likely filmed At Snoopy's Home Ice (Redwood Empire Ice Arena). I was only familiar with the live Christmas shows they used to do at the same place. Good to know this exists somewhere if the Schulz Museum doesn't possess a copy.
