Years ago while scuba diving around the Gull Islands I noticed a smallmouth bass following me. I turned and swam towards it and all it did was back up. I figured that I was stirring up the bottom and it was feeding on something. I flipped a couple rocks and picked up a crayfish and threw it up towards it. He immediately grabbed and ate it. A few minutes later there were at least two dozen bass eating crayfish out of my fingers. That was probably my most memorable dive.

That's awesome, Bernie. Years ago, my wife and I were planning on getting certified to dive, but then we had to save up for our wedding. I'm still planning to do it one day. Have you done a lot of fresh water diving?

Koke, it’s been many years since I dove, no longer have equipment. I did lots of diving for a a few years back then though, mostly in Nipissing. Any deeper than 20ft it got difficult if not impossible to see anything without a light so most dives were fairly shallow. My son’s gear is left here and I’m sometimes tempted to give it a try again. 😄

Brother and his friends were in that area a few weeks ago. They caught so many bass in 2 days that they left a day early. They literally got sick of catching bass 😂😂😂

That's awesome. I usually just fish for walleye and trout up there, but I never feel too bad about a good fight with a bass.

Get out your white tubes and heavy jigs and get out to the deep water. You won't have to go far to find it. Watch for bait balls on the radar and jig up some trout before the season closes.
