What a classic. No major build up, just a big dark fish, and once on, don't you love how the big wise trout often head down stream in a big hurry to their place of safe refuge. You did very nicely to follow, get dunked, get exhausted but still protect the 5x from breaking. Lived as much as is possible and thank you for sharing that memory. Will join you in spirit and be in the South and catch something similar. And yes, to those other comments, so lucky to have such a beautiful country, rivers, and wild trout. BTW, this is the first time I have subscribed so apologise for the ramble but just so happy to find TnOnTr and a fella who is authentic, real, a blast and shares all the best ways to setup and fish. Cool cool cool.

@@TrippinOnTrout Best parts-chasing it and having to work on landing this tank. Alex is smart. After enjoying landing it-he takes a moment to just stop fishing and take it all in. I know I would be shaking after a fish like that. I'd need 4 tylenol to get rid of my headache 2 hrs later from adrenaline withdrawl.

The ambient type music is exactly how you feel if you'ld exploring such ridicilously beautiful countryside with the rivers. Its what I experienced anyhow, at my first fly trip in Norway. But i had an almost ancient video tape,of N.Z's Sout Island. From the 70's! With some locals and a typical Usa cowboy/business man. Never knew the title . Just before Y.T excisted. So i played it over and over. Couldnt believe this earth has such places for real. So I love these vids. S.I. of NZ is since on my bucketlist. Where it prob. always will stay in. So thanks for making all these excellent videos. Living in NL ,its a far cry from Flyfishing as it should be(as in these vids)👍🏻💪🏼

Great video! I watched many of your videos and those with your mate. Normally you guys are kind of ho hum and don't get very excited about 22" - 24" wild trout that guys in the US see maybe once a season. But I enjoyed seeing you get all excited and flustered with the monster brown. I've had fish like that, 23" - 24", on 5X and #18 dry flies that just wouldn't quit and you get so excited so happy when it finally is in the net. Good job and I'm happy for you.
