It was a joy to watch. Thanks for great Video. Where did you stay? I was thinking of a OWB, but it seems very strong current there and shallow, But I'm a bit disabled with Walking, would be cool to hear your advice. Kanolhu and Mirihi was a second Option.

Kandolhu is our favourite resort in the Maldives, so if is in your budget then I would definitely recommend it over Konotta. It's also a very small island, so much less walking needed, and also much easier snorkelling access. Here are our videos from Kandolhu in case you haven't seen them: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jIWZmomOh7tmm80 kzbin.info/www/bejne/faizmX6red51rLM

Awesome video!! Which resort you had the most fun snorkeling? Looking for a resort that has awesome house reef with nice fish life(lots of sharks)! Please let me know! Thanks.

Thanks! It really depends what you are looking for. Konotta probably had the best coral of any resort we have visited since the bleaching event in 2016, but at the same time was we found it lacking in fish life, although it did have a good number of sharks. Kandolhu has great fish life and a huge number of turtles (I saw 30 different turtles across the week), but fewer sharks than other resorts. Kuramathi has the most sharks of any resort that we have been to, and they also tend to be the big adults. As it is located on a channel it gets lots of big fish and rays, but is more of a challenge to access and can occasionally have very strong currents. Baros is probably the most rounded reef that we have been to, with some healthy coral at the Southern tip of the island, lots of adult sharks, and generally a good mix of fish life. If you haven't already done so check out my videos from Baros and Kuramathi, especially the Sharks at Baros and Sharks at Kuramathi videos (although bear in mind that the Sharks at Kuramathi video was pre-2016).

@@SnorkellingintheMaldives Thanks for the info! I watched all your videos already! You have by far the best maldives snorkeling video on youtube now :) Weve been to Angaga and Vilamendhoo already. Both suffered bleaching as well but we find Vilamendhoo better in terms to fish life and house reef. We are deciding between Reethi Beach Resort or Filitheyo this decemeber. Im not sure if you researched about those resorts already but if you have, please let me know! We want to go to Baros but its kind of costly since they dont offer all inclusive or full board. I saw some videos where they snorkeled with a lot of nurse sharks. Im not sure which resort was that but i think its from a local tour somewhere. If you have any info on this as well, would be great to know!

If you haven't already done so, head over to the TripAdvisor forums for the Maldives. I'm a Destination Expert on the forum and myself and the other DEs will be able to give you lots of advice about the best resorts to try. I haven't personally been to Reethi Beach but I know lots of people that have and they all report that the fish life is very good, but I wouldn't expect to see many sharks, as generally the Baa Atoll resorts don't have as many for some reason (which is why there is only one in my video for Milaidhoo). I personally have heard some not great things about Filitheyo and so would avoid. Have you looked at Oblu at Helengeli? That is a good budget resort in the same kind of price as Reethi Beach and has a very good reef. The Nurse sharks that you mentioned may well have been at Alimatha, as they are a famous night dive sight with dozens of resident Nurse sharks.

@@SnorkellingintheMaldives oh yes its Alimantha! Do you know any resorts near Alimatha that is the same level as the one i mentioned? Would love to snorkel with those nurse sharks.. I will also join the forum section in tripadvisor because i have tons of questions! We really want to pick the resort where we can snorkel with lots of sharks and snorkel with mantas up close.

@@yanexcjc The only resort close to Alimathà is Dhiggiri, and they are both owned by the same group and focus mainly on the Italian market. Manta can only be seen on excursions, and the best places are either the South Ari Atoll (all year round) or the Baa Atoll between July and October. If you travel in those dates to the Baa then you will be able to visit Hanifaru Bay, and if you get your timings right (around full moon) then this is what you might be able to see: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n3ncf2qCjLZgbZI Reethi Beach is in the Baa Atoll, as are Coco Palm Dhuni Kolhu and Kihaa which are both good budget options. Resorts in other atolls will also run Manta trips though, so Oblu or any resort in the Male atolls would also be fine. Bathala in the North Ari Atoll may also be worth looking at.
