Man, this is actually really sad to see. Here’s a woman who grew up in adversity, had to figure out how to survive on her own, and clearly carries a ton of guilt for the decisions she made in the process. However, she seems totally misguided about what she actually needed during those times. She identified that she needed structure in her life, but has totally over-corrected to an ideology of control. I don’t think this is a grift, but it seems like there is a ton of unresolved trauma here that she thinks she is sublimating into a good cause. In reality she is just perpetrating harm in the opposite way she was before. Hope she figures this out and works through it.
@Pensive_Scarlet4 жыл бұрын
I feel like not enough people seem to realize it's totally possible to be on one side and put out a grift toward the other side. There are all sorts of things that can lead a person to think that pretending to agree with a political majority in order to profit off of that majority is the best or only option. Look at Karlyn Borysenko. She went to that rally, sure. The idea she walked away with probably wasn't "I want to be with these people" so much as it was "wow look at all this money just flying out of these people's pockets and right into the hands of anyone who tells them what they want to hear", though. Similarly, the person above seems to be marketing toward out-of-touch homeschooling parents rather than actual teenagers. She probably just got sick of people telling her to pull herself up by the bootstraps she's never had and decided to spite those people by using their ideas about "making an honest living" as a way of profiting off of them. Note that I'm not necessarily saying that makes her a bad person. Plenty of genuinely good people do bad things for ostensibly good reasons.
@TootieVirus4 жыл бұрын
Pensive Scarlet I’m totally in agreement with how easy it is to start grifting for the right, but something about her overall presentation suggests to me that she is totally genuine and horribly misguided. I think it’s mostly in how she presents her backstory. Just a feeling. I’m a mental health professional, so the story she’s telling seems very organic to my understanding of people. I can see how it looks different through a different lens.

(Rise in hate crimes under Trump.) Conservatism believes in stagnation by its very nature, which at this point will kill us all. (Climate change). ICE runs concentration camps for misdemeanors. Systemic racism is killing POC, and conservatives victim blame, while calling protest killers and kidnappers heroes. Not to mention the anti intellectualism which gets people killed while the instigators of that misinformation are shielded from consequence. I felt guilty laughing at this lady for using the liberian flag, but god damn it’s just too funny. I can’t help but wonder if she got confused with libertarian

I tried to google her books to read the titles up close and it literally told me, "It looks like there aren't any great matches for your search." The closest I got was Molly Harper's Half Moon Hollow series. Google, freaking Google, doesn't know who this woman is. Something tells me she didn't make a lot of money on those books. 😂

I have lots of young people in my family, that type of stuff is scary! I’ve seen some of them almost fall dark paths because of that kind of shit.

The Liberia flag thing is kind of a joke, isn't it? IDK if the video creators meant it as a joke, but I've seen a lot of sarcastically patriotic posts with the Liberian flag thrown in to point out people who are brainlessly patriotic. Are we sure this isn't some type of prank on conservatives?

Blues clues was originally a guy named Steve and a bunch of puppets. Gradually, over time, the animation took over.

Here I was thinking this person was just culturally tone deaf. Then they go and demonstrate that they're literally tone deaf with whatever it is that "rap" was supposed to be. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe dissonance was what she was going for? /shrug.
