Girl you got Native ancestors they still with you every day. None of your ancestors leave you, they are part of you. They gave you your stardust long time ago. And if you feel them, that's all you need. They dont care about color cause they see our spirits not our bodies they fill. Only us humans are limited in our minds Iike that. There is much pain, anger and hate that misleads many and misguides us all. Focus on your connection with your ancestors (all of them) and your relationship with creator because that's all that you take home with you.

As a Settler born under Treaty Law in Baawaating I stand in solidarity with my Indigenous Sisters and Brothers of Kanata. I stand for our Mother and all of her inhabitants. I stand until self-determination for Indigenous Peoples is fully REALized. I am eternally grateful The First Nations People opened their hearts and home to my ancestors giving me a sacred place to call home. For that abundant gift, I am willing to lay down my life if that is what it takes to break free of colonial terrorism. One Love. Sariah

@em-yz6rl
@em-yz6rl 2 жыл бұрын
@@flynn4838 It's not about who is responsible for what or who has the right to live here. The situation today is messy and there's no easy answer for how to make things right. But one thing we can do as non-natives is to recognize how the violence of the past is still here in some ways in the present - genocide, illness, the destruction of a culture, torture and abuse, confinement to reservations, and the trauma and poverty and addictions that took hold in the community because of those things, all have lasting effects to this day and they are still struggling because of it. It can be extremely hard to escape the cycle of poverty, especially when you're dealing with stereotypes on top of everything, and when your ancestors didn't have the same opportunities to earn money or own property and so you had no ability to build up generational wealth. When we talk about supporting native people, it's not about apologizing for the past which we had no part in, it's about understanding the struggles of the present and trying to give people the chance they deserve at a decent life. Anyone who has suffered horrible violence deserves support, which is why there are also programs for war refugees, battered women, witness protection etc. You don't owe native people anything, in the same way that you don't owe battered women anything. You weren't the one who committed genocide, and you weren't the one who battered the woman. But you can still recognize how battered women face additional struggles in life and support them. You can also recognize that even if you didn't have the choice to be born here, that native people might not necessarily be happy about you living here. That doesn't mean there's necessarily anything you can do about it, but it's still worth acknowledging out of respect that you're involuntarily playing a role in the continued occupation of their homeland, and that you benefit from some of the same things that harm native people (ie, by owning an acre of their homeland).
