joe mar braids exist in many cultures. The Spaniards didn’t make contact with Siberians or Mongolians so they wouldn’t know who else to compare them to.
@joemar25915 жыл бұрын
@@harleyquinn5774 yea nowadays, but who created the braided hair style. Not people with straight hair, that's a fact. Also being a native dosent mean your people originated from here, example my sister is a native New Yorker but she was born in Saint Louis. Native is a modern misnomer.
@tritter155 жыл бұрын
joe mar No one created the “braided” hairstyle. There are many different types of braids that originate from various cultures, but braids themselves are pan-cultural. There were braids all over Africa, Europe, Asia, and the Americas. That said, when describing “Native Americans” they’re people with a genetic 9RA marker, something found solely in Native Americans, a small group on the tip of the Bering Peninsula, and mummies/human remains going back thousands of years on the American continents. Black people, white people, AND Asian people were tested for the marker, but no other ethnicity had it, solidifying Native Americans as not only being a unique ethnic group, but having been here for thousands of years. It’s a fascinating subject to research, definitely recommend it.

@al red dog Many “Latinos” are actually Native people who’ve had their indigenous heritage taken away from them by the Spaniards through cultural and linguistic genocide and economic coercion. Think 500 years of the Spaniard version of “kill the Indian, spare the man.” 500 years of being forced to make a false, binary choice: Remain Indian, starve and remain poor and have your way of life belittled and become disenfranchised, or become “Hispanicized”, ditch your ancestors in order to feed yourself and your family.

I wish you guys all the best! I really love watching the fam around the table. Oral tradition from my mom tells me I'm from the Iroquois tribes in PA. I'm so sad to not know forsure who my people are without giving up my DNA or paying lots of money to research. Watching your vids help me feel connected to a family I have lost. ✌🏼💚
