I remember you saying that you were having a mild winter in one of your videos A little while back. And somebody said you guys were 2 weeks late. That's all folks and everything might be back to normal. I'm 35 miles west of Atlantic city. Man it's really cold here. We got 5 inches on a outside table. It's a temporary winter. The weather geeks say that in around 5 days it'll be 58. But of course it's cloudy with a touch of rain. But right now it's super cold but nice an sunny. Ha ha, which one do I go out side and split wood on. Damm the more I talk the more I want to go outside and get a hot burn barrel fire going . It's close to the splitter. I saw you snowblowing so now it's time to split. Ye ha

Bought a snow blower when we built a detached garage with three times the concrete driveway I dad before. Rarely used in last 9 years, but twice in the last month with deep wet snow. At 72 I still can do it on my own, just a little over an hour and I get it done. Wouldn’t want it any other way.

Nice job Chris. Tuesdays storm was a regular mess with snow and rain. Cleaned up nicely. Last weekend was the worst mess I have ever seen. Rain from the east. Snow from the west. Blizzard conditions. Turned into four inches of concrete topped with eight inches if wet heavy snow. I snowblower the eight inches and then chopped and shoveled the concrete ice chunks. People are still without power since Friday. Electric companies from Upper Michigan, Minnesota, and Indiana are here working to restore power. Temps are hovering around minus twelve with minus thirty-five wind chills. The biggest issue now is broken water mains. Parts of the city have no power and water. Some have no power but water and some have power but no water. We are to get to 20 this weekend. I have lots of ice clean up left to do.

Hi Wayne. I got a twenty five cent tour of the studio. To say it is incredible is an understatement. Any venue you could imagine, Chris has built the backdrops. Then go outside and there are su flowers and other flowers. He cuts an s through the sunflowers soo there are different angles of light. Then all of the outdoor props. The creek, benches. the truck, the old fieldstone wall thst they built as a backdrop. That was before the tractor. The wildlife that is in the average. Place is absolutely a hidden gem. Indoors he has a huge area to mat and frame his work. To think that this started with 35 mm film and now digital with everything he had to learn with the change in technology. The craftsmanship and pride in his craft is second to none. The photography world will be loosing one of its greatest assets. I studied photography in college. I sucked at it.
@waynetharp11 ай бұрын
@@annmariekowalski7505 I have not had the full tour and have only seen what he has shared on videos but seeing the work he has put into a what was basically his hobby. It is not hard at all to imagine the time/years he has spent on his real profession and obsession. I am sure selling has been a difficult decision for them both but everyone deserves some retirement years and time spent pursuing other dreams as well. I have a feeling...there will always be a camera within arms reach on whatever path life takes from here...
@annmariekowalski750511 ай бұрын
@waynetharp HI with everyone running around with cameras on their phones, and social media, there are many Ansel Adams wanna bees. Before if Chris got the itch to go outside, he walked out the side door and he could scratch that itch. There is no doubt that Chris and his wife put their heart, soul, blood, sweat and tears into the business. I agree it is time to enjoy the second trimester of life. Hunting, traveling, fishing, and of course, firewoid. Since I was little, Rain, sleet or snow, I wanted to be outside. Till this day, if I can not go outside, my knickers get in a knot. If I am outside and Mom, aka Bill, comes out and says it is time to come in, I see red. Looking at my magic eight valley, I see all sorts of outdoor activities in the Carlson future.

I grew up in Spencer, WI (central WI). The school superintendent at that time lived across the street from school. Question When you get bad weather like snow and extreme temperatures, do you have a whole bunch of people that want wood that day? And if so, how do you normally handle that situation? I know it did cost me more in gas just because of the road conditions. My drive time was more and also it took more of my time. Do you typically charge more or do you not deliver at all on those days or do you just make it happen?
@InTheWoodyard11 ай бұрын
I usually just tell them it will be couple days ...unless it is an emergency like a dead furnace.
@joeahopelto803211 ай бұрын
In the day, snow days were rare for elementary and high school kids. If the school bus lost traction, the kids would pile in the back for extra weight over the drive wheels. Now I am at the age where my snow removal philosophy is "If I didn't put it on the ground, I ain't gonna move it!" LOL We got the double whammy of 2 snows last week and several days of below 0 degrees temperatures. That's normal for Northern Iowa this time of year. Stay warm and safe.
