Wow! I just missed you guys I didn't know you did an overnight snow camping trip up past Panorama Point to McClure Rock. I work right in the gift shop over at the J.V.C (Jackson Visitor Center). in Paradise. I watch a lot of your videos you post & you two really inspire me. I'm an avid hiker myself & an outdoorsy person who's really adventurous. That's why I came to Mt. Rainier National Park for this summer season to work & explore the park. A couple of friends of mine & myself are planing to do an overnight camping trip up at Camp Muir in July. Nick we would really love to have both you & Jen join us if you're interested. I will friend you on Facebook & let you know more of the details of our plans for the overnight trip. Great video!

We were in JVC trying to get an overnight permit for about 15min before being told we had to go to the other building. Is JVC the one with the cafe around the other side?
@mr.lonewolf17546 жыл бұрын
Yes. That is the building where I work & the cafe is around the other side from the front desk where visitors get their information from the rangers about trails to take for snow shoeing around Paradise . By the way my email address is gallincharles7@gmail.com. We should definitely plan on doing a hike together around Mt. Rainier like the Wonderland Trail. I look forward to your next video.

Ahh - our territory. So many great trails in the park - and very early in the season there are many that aren't crowded. Fun scrambles up to Pinnacle or Eagle Peaks, very early season (late June) to Burroughs 3 or Summerland (later - some avalanche concerns too early), and Camps Muir and Schurman. Mt. Ruth and Little Tahoma are worthwhile as well - but beyond our comfort levels nowadays ...

I have such good memories of Rainier as a kid when I lived in Washington. Thank you for capturing its beauty. I love you guys!

I'm only about 6:45 into the video, but I think that's the part where there are a lot of switchbacks when all the snow isn't there. I'm so jealous, I want to do it as a snowshoe trip!
@ShinyNickelBlades6 жыл бұрын
You have to do this again without all the snow. The views are so much more amazing. We never made it to Muir, but I think we went just a little higher than you did. I think the spot you camped was around where we had to decide to either cross the glacier that had a sign saying we shouldn't, or go up and around. We tried the glacier, but got to the top of it, and lost the trail, so we went back to go up and around.

I think a hike up to Muir in summer might be in order. We will see. :)

You guys haven't posted a video in so long! 😢😢😢 I would not be mad if you did more snow camping videos, it's hard to find places in Washington to backpack to in the winter.

Rainier always made me curious, cause I always see it right behind you on the videos. There's no surprise in seeing how beautiful things are from up there, things that surely worth the tough hike in the steep snow. The shots you took at the end of the video really shows us the beauty of the mountains you both/we have been before. Congratulations guys and we see you at the next trailhead!

Can you put the date of your adventure in the description box? It would be great to use that as a data point for deciding where and what type of gear to bring. Thanks!

Snow spiders?! I didn’t even know that was a thing, gah.
@OutsideAndStuff6 жыл бұрын
For some reason, the spiders really love playing in the snow. I think they wait for you to stop moving and then they jump on your boots and then make their way up your pants when you least expect it. So make sure to never stop moving and if you do, slap your thighs to kill the spiders making their way up to Valhalla.

You forgot sunglasses - that is about the worst thing you can forget besides your boots.

Yet another great video. Live seeing the area by Rainier. Nick were you sporting a new backpack or was that just a bigger one from your collection? Have a great day.

It's a new bag! It was time to upgrade my largest pack and I went with the new Osprey Aether Pro 70. Super lightweight and plenty of straps for technical load outs.

Dude...did you design the Gaia GPS logo?
@OutsideAndStuff6 жыл бұрын
Yes sir. www.gaiagps.com/company/
@NoTrail6 жыл бұрын
Ha! when I saw Jen on the home page and saw the new logo, it just looked like your style...I like it. Are you associated with Gaia or just casually? I did not use to like that app but it is improved since I last used it, especially with the subscription.

That might be because I was the driving force behind the UX for the redesign. Also, good to have you back commenting on the channel. :)

Is it difficult to get a permit to snow camp on Rainier? Are there limits to where you can camp above Paradise?
@daviddick82216 жыл бұрын
So glad you guys are back at it again. Gave an actual gasp when your last video uploaded. Keep at it and we’ll see at the trailhead.
