If you had told me I'd watch a video on polishing silver, I never would have believed you, but here I am! Kevin's videos are enchanting, comforting, and relaxing, and remind us that we can infuse elegance in our everyday worlds, even those that don't contain antique silver. But alas! Here I sit having a midday work break, eating my nice lunch, drinking sparkling water from one of the "nice glasses," with a vase of flowers artfully arranged for my companion (plus everyone here of course!). Small moments of elegance even in my tiny kitchen, inspired by Kevin.

Good morning Kevin, I do enjoy this s with my coffee before I get going. Very nice point about surrounding ourselves with beautiful things. I moved way out west to NorCal mountains several years ago at 60. From Chicago. This old ranch house from 1870 is pretty cool, but needed many interesting and homey touches. Still working on that and hope to paint all the creamy walls much more interesting colors over many months. Your chicken stew looks so yummy in this colder than normal winter. I did something similar a couple of nights ago, but love your addition of bacon and leeks. Will try next time. Thx for starting out my day with calm and a smile. Thx so much for your work! I grew up in West Park in the stone rectory overlooking the Vanderbilt mansion over the Hudson. My mother loved French cuisine, so we had many delicious dinners next to the fireplace in the dining room. You can see why I love your esthetic. Thank you. ❤

Such a lovely episode! My mother decided two years ago to pass down her silverware (Fine Arts Sterling, Southern Colonial pattern) to my brother and sister-in-law. They had china, but no silver service. I have my own silver and my sister is a paper plate and plastic ware kind of gal! My mom and I polished and then gently washed and dried her silverware, had the box refinished and a new brass plaque with their last name added. I think we were more excited to give it, but when they used it at Christmas, they were thrilled.

From Rochester NY - Love all the comments on this! Five years ago, I reluctantly had my gazillion-year-old forsythia removed due to disease and its size for the site. I still miss it. Thanks for reminding me how my annual ritual of pruning and forcing (so easy and foolproof) transformed the house in February. A local harbinger of spring rather than a hothouse substitute. I'm going to email my neighbors and see of they have a forsythia that could use a little pruning. I'll be happy for anything I can get. Thank you, Kevin. These small things you drop into your videos are GEMS! Still enjoying my small linen tea/cocktail napkins that were sitting in a forgotten drawer. It's beautiful here in Rochester too!

When you were sitting at your dining room table cleaning your silver items, I thought you looked cute. (You look different without your glasses). And I liked the one lone candle on the tea room table, at the end of this video. And ofcourse, I get the message that you are conveying with this video! Clearly, you don't appreciate my previous comment about snow-laden gardens, and snowy landscapes in general. Well, I'm sorry, but I just can't help how I feel. Just looking at sights like that; I get depressed, and I can practically FEEL the cold! Brrrrr! Plus, I've seen too many movies where they show winter graveyards covered in snow! But I have had my share of cold snowy weather. I grew up on the East Coast, and I had alot of fun playing in the snow and making snowmen. All kinds of sledding, and even skiing almost every winter at nice ski lodges. And as a teenager, I joined a big bunch of other kids at a snow frolic, and one of the boys had brought a huge tractor tire inner tube, that he had inflated it to capacity, and we ALL gathered upon it, boys and girls, a large pile of "bodies", barely holding onto it, and someone gave the mass of us teenage bodies a shove, and DOWN we all went, careening down the steep hill!

I have a nice silver collection, much like yours... minus the lamp of course, and I use Twinkle. It comes with a soft sponge, and you wet the sponge and use small amounts of paste, then simply rinse the silver under medium temperature water at your kitchen sink and dry it off with a soft cloth. It's fast and easy and they have a version for brass as well. I generally use a hair dryer for detailed pieces to ensure the water is fully removed. I used to use Tarn-x liquid, which is extremely powerful, but a collector friend said it removes silver layers over time, so I stopped. With regard to your meal, I never thought of using vegetable stock for my Minute Rice. Good idea. You know, Kevin... I have the sneaking suspicion that you and Nicolas Fairford are comparing notes. Just saying...
