Finally my Homeland is recognised well let me explain that whole inside South Africa thing there were several Wars that was for that were engaged in between our founding fathers and the African Community even though we lost a great part of our territory which is now the South African province of the free state we managed to maintain our sovereignty due to our founding Kings diplomacy and winning nine games there was an attempt in in 1884 to integrate our Kingdom into the greater union on South Africa but unfortunately for the Colonial government they were defeated resoundingly and we were able to keep our sovereignty after that war British assumed Direct rule up until up until 1966 so since the apartheid government never ruled my country we never experienced apartheid directly

And there's snow in Kenya on Mt. Kenya. And snow in Tanzania/the Kenyan border on Mt. Kilimanjaro. Once the elevation get's high enough near the equator/below the equator the temperatures drop and stay chilly, which is why a lot of Europeans were happy to colonise this wondrous continent (though we kicked them out eventually!)

Okay, so just to correct that history lesson in the video (buckle up this will be long:) King Moshoeshoe conquered/unified all the different clans in the original kingdom of Lesotho, which includes parts of what is now SA, to form the Basotho nation. But then he realised the British were coming & they were fighting the Voortrekkers along the way, each eager to colonise his nation. Along the Eastern coast, Shaka also realised colonisation was afoot and reached out to various kings to form treaties and unify " the people of the sun" (descendants of the Northern and central Africans who migrated south a long time ago) to fight off the colonisers. He and Moshoeshoe formed a coalition, agreeing to fight together. Unfortunately Shaka was killed by his brother before he could complete this mission. King Moshoeshoe then realised he couldn't beat the British AND the Voortrekkers. He ceded land that is now part of the Free State in SA to the British, struck up a treaty with them, then retreated to his fortress, Thaba Bosiu, and only kept land that was naturally protected by the mountains or could be defended from the fortress. Since the British & Dutch were now "friends" of his nation, they protected him and his lands from the Voortrekkers, the Apartheid government, etc. So his descendants were able to ascend to the throne as they would have in pre colonial times. And so Lesotho still has a King to this day and is it's own country in the middle of another country.

@@Kori123 do you know the history of Sotho Speaking Nhlapo's that King Mlambo of the Nhlapos (affiliated with Zulu King Shaka) in Mpisikazi Ermelo was best friends with King Moshoeshoe, helped him win the Kingdom from his brother and created an alliance between King Shaka and Moshoeshoe. They were so close that Moshoeshoe named his son Molapo a seSotho pronunciation of Mlambo. Moshoeshoe also offered Mlambo land in Lesotho to return the favor. Mlambo never took the land however upon his death there was in fighting amongst his son's for the Nhlapo kingdom the other prince fled to Lesotho to ask for the land promised to his father. That's how you find Nhlapos in Lesotho and the Freestate. Though they speak seSotho they still have strong Zulu praises "izithakazelo"

I think my sons & I might hold the Guinness Book of Records for the number of times visiting Lesotho...in one day. The boys & I were trying desperately to get out of South Africa & away from their homicidal father who we learnt had not just one but two agencies looking for us. We knew the local Durban airport would be staked out so we decided to leave through Jo'burg. It's a straightforward drive on a good highway and takes around 8 hours. So off we tootled one Saturday morning from Durban...& got to Jo'burg late Sunday night! Because it came to pass, once on the road, that none of us could read maps(this was pre-Satnav, obviously). So the first time we crossed the Lesotho border we had a natter with the guards who waved us cheerily on our way. The second time we passed through we all had a talk about how I'd managed to go out the other side yet looped back/ The third time there was quite a bit of eye rolling - and by the fourth we'd hit peak embarrassment. Jammed down the accelerator...and discovered we'd run out of petrol. They pushed us down the mountain with what appeared to be unnecessary vigour, swearing we'd find a township down there. And yep we did - along with a cosy pub and friendly people who fixed us some food & whiskey and we all went round in a group to wake up the guy who had the keys to the petrol pump. Couldn't recommend a country more - especially if you're going to spend a whole day just driving in and out of it/ Fun for young and old!😂😂

Wonderful reaction guys. Keep the vids coming. Super simple summary: Lesotho and eSwatini (FORMERLY Swaziland) were countries before South Africa, and were much larger. Their territories were claimed by pre-Union of South Africa countries (e.g. Vrystaat, Transvaal, Natal, Cape Colony etc), and through negotiations kept being claimed. Naha ea baSotho (pre-Basutoland, later Lesotho) formed c. 1822 CE. uMbuso weSwatini (pre-Swaziland, later eSwatini) formed c. 1840 CE. Union of South Africa/Unie van Zuid-Afrika (pre-Republic of South Africa) formed 1910 CE. Source: My mother grew up in Lesotho (due her father being in exile during apartheid), even though we are baTswana.

Lesotho was regarded as a homeland for Sotho speakers, just KwaZulu Nata being a homeland for Zulus. Since both (and other kingdoms) (homelands) had monarchs, the BaSotho decided not to be a province of SA but to become a country, in 1966. In Summary, any of the other kingdoms, i.e. Swatini, could have decided to be a country. The monarchs are related, through languages (Bantu). Bantu speakers are originally from where Cameroon and Nigeria is today. Nigeria's languages are different, they are west African. Linguistically, they are our cousins, just like the Nilotes. To answer your question: I think Lesotho was not important to the white government, at the time. Unlike Gauteng, where there is gold ( I do not think they would allowed a monarch to opt out of the country).

1. Now for inaccuracies: Singular = moSotho, moTswana, moPedi, moKwena Plural = baSotho , baTswana, baPedi, baKwena Sotho-Tswana languages use "mo", and "ba" as prefixes for people, "bo" and "ha/ga" for "places". 2. Mfecane as explained there is a myth. "Shaka Zulu" did not start "a crushing", nor did displacement of people happen due to "power hungry Shaka Zulu". This is such a huge misconception, and usually an explanation to explain land grabs and punitive expeditions across Africa! Earliest recorded "crushing/scattering" of Africans was in the 1650's. iSilo uSgidi (Shaka Zulu), died 1828 CE. Mfecane as a term was coined by Eric Anderson Walker in 1928 CE. The proper word, if it did even exist in this context, would have been "imfecane" or "imfeqane" in isiZulu (cognate with difeqane in seSotho), not "Mfecane". Grammatically, we use prefixes and suffixes, again indicating it was an Anglicized term by Europeans up till the 1920's.

Swaziland and Lesotho must be incorporated to South Africa and become monarch provinces like KZN, it makes economic and social sense, our languages and cultures are the same and we look alike, our food/cuisine is the same, compared to other Africans from East,West and North Africa, and we did not sell our people to the slave traders

HIV essentially back in the early 2000s hit the parents leaving the children as orphans and the guardians being the grandparents in southern Africa. With the introduction of ARVs and so forth, life expectancy increased.

Recent biological research shows that viruses don't kill humans but it is a weakened immune system caused by a number of factors one of them being toxic chemicals, radio active environment lack of nutrition and more. Politicians and business doesn't want the masses to know this as it will call for accountability.

I think may to September it's winter because it's the southern hemisphere so seasons are switched around. Maybe similar to Australia etc?

Lesotho isn't the only kingdom in this region of Africa. Swaziland is also a monarchy where the King is the head of state. The Zulu Kingdom is also a monarchy, but it is subject to the government of South Africa. So the Zulu Monarchy functions kind of like how the Monarchy in Britain does.

Incorrect, Lesotho is a constitutional monarchy where the Prime Minister is an elected head of government with executive power and the Monarch is head of state which is a ceremonial role so it’s similar to the United Kingdom. Swaziland is an absolute monarchy like UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar etc. The monarch or sovereign has absolute power & because he holds executive power he delegates executive powers to his appointed Prime Minister and cabinet. On the other side of the spectrum South Africa is a republic not a monarch/kingdom, the president has executive powers so he/she is head of both government and state like the USA & many other republics in Africa and around the world. In South Africa like in many other constitutional democracies, the various chieftaincies and kingships within the territory of the republic of South Africa of which Zulu monarchy is one fall under traditional leadership which could be similar to The Bureau of Indian Affairs in the USA for Native Americans. The leaders get their legitimacy from the Government of the day which can create or liquidate their seats/kingdoms/nations as they have done in other provinces when 13 kingdoms were reduced to 7. The President as the appointing authority working with his government ultimately decides who he gives certificate of recognition.

You’re totally wrong. The Zulu monarchy doesn’t function like British monarchy. The British monarchy is for all nations in the United Kingdom even those who’re not English. Scottish, Welsh ana Northren Ireland are not English but the English Queen or king is for all those 4 nations. Hence the Zulu king is only for the Zulu he won’t rule over other tribes in South Africa. So the Zulu monarchy and the British monarchy ar totally different. The Zulu king is for only 1 nation in South Africa not for all nations in SA but the English monarchy is for all nations in the United Kingdom

It snows in Zimbabwe too. Winter of 2017 it did snow in a city called Gweru, and other winters before and the high mountains in the eastern paths of the country.
