Thanks a lot...yes, it's a risky business to paint directly on the cardbase. I don't do that often, because usually I use watercolor paper, and I dont think watercolor paper is a good card base. But this Multifarios cardstock is heavy and can hold a lot of water. The colors doesn't flow as much as they do on watercolor paper, tho....but for this particular technique it's okay, I think... Ohhh, thank you for all the lovely words and comments! I soooo love that I can inspire! The really good and fun thing with watercolors, and this technique, is that nothing is right or wrong, it's all about the colors. Just one little tip: make sure the paper (whatever you use) is wet enough so the colors can "flow". It is better to tilt the piece to spread the colors, and carefully "help" with a brush. We don't want the colors to go "muddy". And yes, this technique would look nice in other colors aswell... I'll probably do something similar for spring, summer and autumn.... and always remember; "art is in the eyes of the beholder"... Thank you... I stamped the snowflakes with versamark, then used Papermania tinsel gold embossingpowder, heat set it with my heatgun, and that's it... hugs, Elisabeth

What does the salt do? I’ve never seen that before.

Hi there... the salt gives texture to the background. If you look at the video at 4:45, you can see the starlike white "blooms" it creates. If the paper it too wet when you drizzle the salt, it won't give much effect, and not if it's too dry either. I do recommend you to do a little swatch... a piece of watercolor paper with i.e. 3 squares 3x3cm, wet them all. Add some color i.e. blue to the first square, then some salt, wait 1/2 a minute and do the next square, and the the same with the third square... Let i airdry completly, and brush the salt off... You'll see 3 different blooms in the squares! I do this technique a lot on wintery/christmassy scenes, but also when I want more texture to the background... hope this helps... hugs, Elisabeth

Hi there...if you don't have stamps, you could make the background like I've done it, and then draw on the snowflakes with a goldpen. Or you could paint them with gold acrylic color... hope this helps... hugs, Elisabeth
