What I like about this channel is there is no hype, this man keeps it real!! Don’t tell me it’s going to snow ❄️ then there is none like a lot of these other casters!!

We've had maybe 5 normal winters since the late 90's. I think normal winters are going to be the exception from here on out. (Hopefully I'm wrong!)

I’m not a cold weather fan but man I feel it for my snowmobile friends. They need a few good winters and that mean no more whining about how they couldn’t use their sleeds when we meet up at the Memorial Day cookouts

Concerning to see the AI and Euro models flipping warm for Jan. Hopefully just a bad model run but would not surprise me. Mild air seems to be the norm during winters lately.

It’s gonna be cold and dry like always in stupid Ohio. How I know? The stupid GFS 06z is sleeping because it keeps pushing back winter storms, which means they aren’t going to occur😢
@WeatherWithTravis18 күн бұрын
It certainly is possible that the cold air gets really strong and keeps us dry for Ohio specifically. That puts us back in the clipper regime where you get those Northwest impulses that causes light snow events. However, I’m really interested in what happens as we turn cold and as we turn warm again toward the end of January . Also, a real interest is what happens across the south, places like Tennessee, North Carolina, and even Virginia and the Delmarva, it’s been a while since these places have seen a real snow, and this might be the year, we’ll see.

@@WeatherWithTravis My question is, does the arctic air ever spill into the northwest sometime this winter? Good for the northeast, but I don't live there. Plenty of Cascades snow in the northwest, but nothing in the lowlands of Oregon where I live, which is discouraging and i don't understand why. Why is the weather el nino like if we are in a weak la nina? Mjo is a factor, but what else? And I'm sorry to be the one guy to complain, I just don't understand.

Hopefully, no BIG arctic air mass will move down to stick and stay on the Canadian prairies during January, or at least not in Alberta, the worst of bitter lingering cold is always in Jan and Feb.

We're still waiting for snow in Minnesota. Lots of business relying on decent snow levels. Sure wish you'd at least touch on the Midwest a little more, but I suppose you're catering to the East Coast population. But it's a give in the east coast always gets snow. Maybe throw a bone to the Midwest so we know whether to sell our snowmobiles, snowboards, skis, snowplows, and snowblowers. Yamaha stopped producing snowmobiles, now arctic cat. Lots of folks and farmers relying on precipitation in the Midwest. We're not just worried about our doordash orders being delivered lol

I lived in Minneapolis '93-'00, and the signs of warming were starting to appear in early '96, then was especially noticeable in '98 and '99. (Not sure about '00 - I left in July that year.)

I am unfamiliar with looking at a weather map and saying "here is some energy" and "there is some energy." Can you explain what that means? How does an average person "see energy" on a forecast map? [i.e., look at the map before a weather person marks it, e.g., with "many tornadoes expected here"]

@@WeatherWithTravis I was not displeased at all. I was just trying to find out. And, I have no problem if the answer is "go get a degree in meteorology."
@WeatherWithTravis18 күн бұрын
I apologize if it sounded as if I was implying that you need to get a degree in meteorology to understand, that certainly is not my intention. I try hard to balance true meteorology along with making it easy to understand which is a delicate balance. Some criticize me for just saying “hey it’s going to rain here or it’s going to snow.“ They want me to dig deep into why it’s going to snow some just want to know if it’s going to rain or snow, and nothing else. I’m trying to find that balance here on this channel versus the 2 1/2 minutes you might have for the television viewers of the past.

@WeatherWithTravis18 күн бұрын
The odds are so stacked against you that it’s not even funny. If anyone’s telling you, it will snow in Alabama, it’s not me however I will say with a colder pattern, which I talk about, you would at least have a chance versus the blow torch Christmas weather pattern we’re in right now
