I like how people get opinionated, obnoxious, and stubborn when arguing about the weather and it's patterns. I just giggle at them and move on.

NWS gives Flagstaff a 60% chance of precipitation Tuesday night but model guidance makes me think it's a 0, what justifies NWS's forecast?

Great updates Travis, I think the thing is with looking at the long term is that its been pretty consistent about showing a cold pattern sticking around in January for a while, I am just hoping the weather is active as well so we get some good snowfall that sticks around.

Long range trends are the reason I watch this channel. I work outside and it helps me plan what I might be able to do. Obviously it's not going to be exact, but I like to know if it looks to be warmer and drier, or colder and wetter? And I like to see the broader reasons why. If people just want dates and numbers they can watch their local news forecast.

This is just a weather question I have. How come the west coast in places like San Francisco get essentially no snow in winter, while the east coast in places like New Jersey snow is more of a norm?(in terms of low elevations) Let me know if you need more elaboration but I think you get the basic idea of what I am asking.

I really hope there is some snow in Texas. Were in a snow drought! What do you think about this, Travis?
@WeatherWithTravis17 сағат бұрын
Kinda like I said in the video. I wouldn’t believe anything, but depending on where you are in Texas, at least there’s a chance if you’re hoping for snow sometime for the beginning of January. There could be a surprise, but I feel like we blow torch and get warm toward the middle and end of the month.

Sooooo....the trends show somewhere, sometime, someone may get something. That's pretty much useless dude. Quit wasting our time with this garbage. Let us know when you figure out where, or when or who or how much....or something instead of just saying someone may get snow in January...duh. lol
@WeatherWithTravis18 сағат бұрын
This week, there’s a very little chance of a big storm anywhere outside of the west/mountains and some light snow into the north east and Great Lakes. Useless, I guess that’s your call. If the NAO was positive and a blowtorch start to the year was in order, I’d say very little snow. Some love long range outlooks, obviously you hate them. “Garbage.” So yes or no snow forecasts only, no outlooks or possiblities. Got it.
@donkey318717 сағат бұрын
@@WeatherWithTravis Saying the trend looks like someone, somewhere, might get something sometime in January isn't very useful to any one person in any one spot, now is it? Models are all over the place this far out...useless to listeners, especially anything a week or more out as models are constantly changing and have a horrific record predicting snow storm paths or amounts with any degree of accuracy this far out.
@WeatherWithTravis17 сағат бұрын
@donkey3187 I like to know potential if I want or don’t want snow. Otherwise, only 24 hour forecasts that are also not perfect. This pattern is also IMHO the most favorable snow setup for the east we’ve seen in years.
@MidwestWeather17 сағат бұрын
@@WeatherWithTravis you are doing a great job!
@donkey318717 сағат бұрын
But it doesnt tell you potential for any one area...it just gives very general trends with models constantly changing and shifting. It might be interesting to see general trends on a macro level, but its useless to any one person in any one location as far as enlightening them on what to expect in their area weatherwise...as far as snowstorms go particularly. As far as arctic outbreaks, they can usually be seen much further out and can be pretty widely encompassing...so that is useful.
