Snow Plowing with a Yamaha Grizzly 700 ATV

I have my plow hook up directly to the winch and I blew two winches motor (first year using Atv with plow to plow the snow) because of the lower down which is not the problem but the up. I noticed that when I up the plow at it higher capacity, either the cable broke or blew the motor. Now I go gentle on the up and I am doing ok but it seems the cable won’t hold longer. Any suggestions on what to do to prevent the cable from wearing out and break and or when the up too high and blew the motor?

I use Moose plows and systems. I have pulley on plow. Cable goes from winch through pulley and attaches to top rack bar of my ATV. See www.mooseutilities.com for options.

I noticed you had side-to-side operation,. What were you using for that? I have the Pro Vantage system with the power head and it's getting tired. They no longer make it so I'm looking for a differant system. Thanks

I actually do not have a powered side to side. Its a manual operation of me jumping off ATV, pulling back pin and rotating plow. Moose plow setup well and pretty fast even though manual. They have electric assist for rotating but I can't justify the cost for the amount of plowing I do.
