I've just realised that's the same body as the stadium blitzer.. you've got it looking fantastic.. I love stadium trucks.. come on tamiya.. bring back the monster racer and king cab..👍🇬🇧😎

Finished building my Rock Socker recently and just had a blast around the garden. Fitted mine with Hobbywing Fusion SE 1800 which performs more than well enough for me. Very impressed by how the 4 wheel steering works, especially compared to turning circle on my CC-02 Unimog. Now I just need some decent weather so I can get the body sprayed and finished. Built mine with a few metal upgrades so might be a bit heavier than Tamiya intended!

Great paint job. Althought the big T designed this chassis as a crawler, in my mind it's more a trailing car. Maybe it's because of the lack of the aftermarket and upgrade parts. Traxxas and Axial are for sure better placed in the community.

Fantastic build, wishing i had your body finishing skills to make mine look as good! Weird thing - i've found that it is much more capable climbing backwards. So i switched the front and rear body mounts (and shell) so that the rear wheels steer. Amazing difference for No cost! Much more capable. Imagine pushing or pulling a wheelbarrow. The diffs are both locked making manoeuvring difficult however, not any more. Battery weight is in a better place. Try it (without switching the shell) and I hope you'll see how much more capable it is climbing backwards :)

It’s not that exciting, it’s just taking your time and focusing on the detail to get it as clean and straight as possible.

I think ur right about it being a monster truck. Or maybe a trail truck. But rock crawler or even rock bouncer like the Axial Ryth it's definitely not

Love the paint work you have done on this one, think I may have to see if I can pick up that body set still. I have a CR01 but the Land cruiser and I feel I may like this body better for crawling
@liamRC54872 жыл бұрын
How does the suspension sit with the battery and electronics in? It was a bit loose before
@RCKickschannel2 жыл бұрын
The issue is the pivot pin has some play so that can be fixed with some small black zip ties.

Its always the body that gets me, i try to do a good job but never quite get the finish i want. Prep is key, your masking is what made it. Could you brush paint the roll bars? Would that be an option?
@RCKickschannel3 ай бұрын
Possible but I do t know if that would be easier
@crow72913 ай бұрын
@@RCKickschannel ok thanks, i have the toyota cruiser version, you can get lifts that give more ground clearance fir them and the metal drive shafts are a good option also, as the plastic ones can twist and pop out. All in all its a very capable crawler/Trailer. You do great content mate. 👏🏻
@Shauntipson2 жыл бұрын
Regarding the painting you put clear on first and then the paint I’m not sure what this does can you please explain thanks
@RCKickschannel2 жыл бұрын
Putting down a few layers of the clear fills up all the small gaps in the masking. When you then put down the colour, you get way fewer issues with paint creeping and much sharper lines and corners.
@benandrews7019 Жыл бұрын
@@RCKickschannel I’ve not seen this technique before, I’ve Googled with no success - do you show it in another video? I always have trouble with paint bleeding under the masking tape… I’ve got the Unimog version of this - I had many of the same problems as you with the chassis rails!
@neilstothard2 жыл бұрын
Got to say the body looks fantastic. Certainly looks like the silver can is too quick to do any proper crawling and you need to add something with a few more turns to get the control needed.

Lovely looking truck but it Looks like the shock oil must have been frozen the way it was bouncing over the bumps. I don’t know why Tamiya think every single vehicle they sell needs their 40wt “ soft “ oil that rig could probably do with about 10 or 20wt in that with the pistons drilled out. I suppose they leave that up to the advanced builders discretion.
@RCKickschannel Жыл бұрын
Yep 100% the suspension could be improved on this one. It also has some play in the pivot arms so that contributes to the jiggling aspect of the suspension
