There is one place that requires some attention: the underside of the outer door. It is easy to drag snow on to the little ledge in the doorstep, then it can freeze there and if it accumulates it can cause the door to jam. So, take a look at that area every now and then, that the doorstep is free from snow before you close the door.

Clearing snow between the neighbors is nice touch, it really is one of the best ways to keep neighbors on your side.. grab a couple of shovelfuls off snow from their side, without of course trespassing, not throwing snow to their side but carrying all the way your yard, doing more than the absolutely minimum.. Doing small little favors in this area of life are very appreciated.

As meticulously as you do clean with the shovel, consider getting a "lumikola". You know, a large scoop with the handle-pipe attaching to two corners and making a square outward and upward from the scoop part. It'll make the work go faster as you can move larger amount of snow with one go. Good for also moving the snow far enough so you don't have to shovel the heaps again. If you really want to tidy up with the shovel and broom, you can do that once the bulk of the snow has been scooped away with the "lumikola". Anyway, props on how clean your porch was.
@JS...2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, kola would be good. Great work, and I'm wondering if it's still as cleanly done come spring.
@TaijaT76 Жыл бұрын
It is also a preference, lumikola is very heavy to push when full of snow although more handy in big areas.

Many people keep the snow shovel next to the door so that its available. It is practical. Thermal winter is just beginning so most propably you will see much more snow. It is quite normal to have 40-50cm of snow and in some areas much more.

Once or twice in the winter, yeah... but 37:th time isn't so fun anymore. But to be honest I live in the finnish countryside and shoveling snow, making firewoods, walking in forests after mushrooms, cutting lawn and bushes etc is my physical training. It's impossible to me just running pointless or lifting weights without any particular reason (well sometimes I do some pull-ups if there is suitable branch on my way). If I lived in the town like when I was young I would be super over weighted because I eat whatever is in front of me and that includes tons of fat and sugar.

I havent touched a snow shovel in like 8 years. Thats a very good positive thing about living in an apartment building. The landlord has an army of emplyees that do all that stuff. 🙂 But yeah thats very nicely done. When i had to do that in the past i would just make a path from the door to the road. 😁
@esthermarcen75872 жыл бұрын
It will come more snow, the best is to keep the shovel near and keep the snow under control daily. You can buy a shovel that you only need to push, for example in tokmanni they are not very pricey, they make the job easier or ask your landlord.

@ravenfin1916 Жыл бұрын
Nice job. Now that we have practiced, we can say that the snow (And frosty) months are just beginning. The amount of snow will at least double or triple in the next two months. I recommend keeping the shovel by the door, no one will steal it. Or if he steals, he really needs it. Snow coop makes work much easier and faster. Such a clean yard is amazing. But is it necessary? If there is time and energy, then why not. The most important thing is to move the loose snow away so that you can walk easily and it doesn't get carried inside. I recommend moving the shoe cleaning rack closer to the door so you can go in when there is not so much snow on the shoes. At some point it will freezes to the ground. Maybe take the gridand replace it? But so clean in January...🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯

@calculus772 жыл бұрын
To a point, yes. 😀 (In spring) a very thick layer of wet snow can be too heavy for the support beams, though.
@danielmalinen63372 жыл бұрын
But if it snows a lot, then it might accumulate too much load on the roofs of the houses, and the snow has to be dropped from the roofs, so that they don't collapse. Also, snow and ice that falling from the roofs are always a hazard and we are sometimes warned about them on TV.
@JPPVESA2 жыл бұрын
Not really, the roof trusses are very well calculated. They can carry a huge load with ease. You can have over 2meters up there and they won't give in.... ..our house is 110 years olds with "old technique" and the trusses/beams have according to my late father in law carried well toward said depths of snow. It's mainly the massive shopping malls and various hall roofs that give in under pressure in Finland. Haven't ever heard of domestic building roofs crumbling under snow...

It is better to do snow removal every day (if there is snowfall every day). But you don't need to do it so thoroughly every time. You can just make a narrow path to walk, or just do the steps if you are in a hurry, and save some work for the next time. In this video, you shoveled the same places several times. You will soon learn to do the "snow work" in a more organised way, saving some of your energy. It will still be hard work though, especially with wet snow. But if you think of the snow removal as exercise, then saving energy does not matter :)
