Dang, man! I bust out my fat bikes, when weather is like that. I can't imagine navigating that slop with 700c tires. You earned your money that day (not that you don't normally). Thanks for bringing us along for the not glorious days, my friend. Take care!

Thanks man! I definitely should have used something more knobby on the tires. Thanks for watching 🤙🏼🔥

stay safe and cheers from moscow, russia! we got tons of snow out here right now, and the ice underneath is plain devious, so i had no choice but to put a studded tire in the front (that also required getting a different fork to fit 35c but it was worth it). the backwheel is mostly fine, it goes crazy sometimes but not too bad 😄keep up the good content!
@Fixedgearr10 ай бұрын
I’ll have to try that out using just one studded tire 😅 thank you!!🙏

That bicycle is very nice. I have 4 bicycles, one of them is A similar color to your's. It's A Schwinn Median hybrid sport cruiser. I add sport and cruiser when describing it, because of the cruiser style handlebars, the 7 speed beach-cruiser gears, combined with the very skinny 700cc-28c roadie-tires that are currently on it. I bought it back in October of 2019, at a local bike-shop, for $108. Sweet Deal, even back then. When I looked up the bike recently, I found out that they made them for a limited time frame period, in 2013. My rear tire recently popped, luckily when I was only around one hundred feet away from my home. I noticed when I looked up the details on this Schwinn bike of mine, that when new, it had much wider 38c tires. So it was I guess a Gravel Cruiser Hybrid when brand new. The bike-shop worker apparently wanted to sell it with much thinner tires. I remember the day I bought it, the bike was amongst a pile of other used bikes and it caught my attention, because of the affordable price and the racing type tires. The bike shop worker was like, "Yeah Dude, Take it for a Spin, You'll Love it, It freakin Flys Man..!!!" So yeah, I test rode it and was pretty much immediately thinking, Yeah, this thing is pretty sweet. Can't pass up this deal..!! : ) I do think that I just might want to go with wider tires though. Hopefully the rims on it can accommodate significantly wider tires. I remember way back in the day, having a rigid fork Scott brand mountain bike, stocked with 1.95" tires, and the rims accommodated 1.50" tires. You're bike looks like it has 38c tire width. Something similar to the standard 10 speed bicycles that they sold in department and hardware stores back in the 1980's. They typically had 1-3/8th" tires. Most roadie riders, especially the spandex clad riders in them bike-clubs have 1" width tires on they're $3,000 roadie bikes.

do you do rinse, wipe down the bike after a shift in those conditions? Or do you do anything to prevent all that salt from damaging components?

I don’t as often as I should! Really you should do that every time after a rainy ride too!

Reminds my deliveries most of January, the worst is when youre stopped and start pumping to move and the back wheel loses traction.

I'm a big proponent of studded tires. But the way they aggressively salt the roads on this continent makes it more like soup instead of snow. The benefit of studs is very marginal as a result.

Are fixies hard to climb hills with? I've been looking at a fixed, at a priority 3 speed, or priority 7 speed but dont know how they handle hills. its relatively flat here but i will encounter a hill every time guaranteed. I'm just trying to get from a to b i dont care how fast
@Fixedgearr10 ай бұрын
Exactly! It’s all depending on your ratio, I’ve been riding fixed for a little over 2 years so I’m used to pushing my regular fixed gear up a hill. But it’s definitely not effort free climbing hills
@Ascendingroad10 ай бұрын
Yeah what they’ve say above 👆 I’ll say from my experiences is that getting a ratio from 50-46front and 14-23rear to choose from for fixed/track for the streets is do able for hills up to 10% gradient.
@josephbrorby114810 ай бұрын
I guess sometimes I forget exercise is part of the whole dang point. I don't mind walking up a hill. one of the things about fixies that is appealing to me is the simplicity. just move your legs
