Being from here, you don't. You want the weather here like 10 years ago. It can get really sketchy at speed because it has hardly rained.. When we would get really good winters and the dirt is good. It's perfect but it's almost turned into straight sand in a lot of spots. I think norcal/oregon/wash (PNW) has some of the best riding.. obv moving up into Canada.. Don't get me wrong, the actual weather is great. It's but without rain it gets really really hard to see. You really don't wanna brake, but you almost kind of have to which is dangerous. Anyways. I'm not nearly as good as OP but I can hold my own and you could see, even he was sliding all over the place and a lot of riders could have went down hard, really hard.

My bro and sister took me there a few years back. Good place but needs more trail to compete with Snow Summit(heard they also own this). Who's the deciding factor of what more can be done here for expansion of trails? @8:33 you missed the right hander btw 😉

Compared to a bike park like Snow Summit that has had many more years to develop, I think they are doing a great job. They are not owned by the parent company that owns Snow Summit and Bear. There have been some rumblings, but nothing concrete yet. And the new routing for Winchester (@8:25) avoids those first two berms, I'm not particularly thrilled about that.

@@fastsvo the dirt is decomposed granite, so technically not "bad" but different that snow summit/skypark...it is a very loose dirt and what I meant was that the dirt was not as unmaintained as last year because last year, the trail builders were not very good

@@TumorWarrior67 yeah, ever since Ian left its been rough. And I actually like the more course DG over powdery dust over hardpack at Summit. But if there is good moisture, it's hard to beat a good day in the woods at Summit. But those lift lines ☠️☠️☠️

@@SingleTrackSurgeon I was just there today and I agree its a bit rougher than when they first opened, but that has to do with all of the traffic Valley has received, I think Snow Valley is super fun and I like it better than Summit even though Valley has claimed a front rim and front triangle of mine...its unique and built like Mammoth and I enjoy that type of riding, not many jumps and more RAW riding 🤘🏼🤙🏼

It looks like it may actually get taken out due to a proposed re-route of the jumpline which I'm not happy about. Management seems to be more focused on changing the current trails, and not on creating new ones.

I really liked super laid back vibe in SV, but kitty litter soil felt really sketchy for intermediate rider like me.

It's just a different style of riding. I actually like it better than places that are powder over hard pack. I find the DG has some weight to it so you just kind of meander around instead of sliding straight out to the ground. It definitely takes some getting used to though.

Tried Snow Valley for the first time a few weeks ago with a group of friends. Coming from Snow Summit, I(we) did not like it at all. The "kitty litter" dirt holds you back a lot throughout all trails and even ruins many of the jumps and berms. Also, the trails are oddly built in many places. There is a reason why this place is extremely empty. Not hating, but I just didn't like this place.

It's a different type of riding that requires a different style of riding for sure. Similar to Mammoth you have to adjust to make it flow. I'm sad to hear you didn't enjoy it.
