It's crazy that the few people who still care about Disney are saying "just make something original" and Disney goes and does the opposite, and then wonders why they're heading into bankruptcy.

"the state of being seriously mentally ill; madness" The actual definition of insanity. xD I hate that stupid saying because there are actually things that have so many variables that you can do the same thing and expect different results. Still I agree with the sentiment. Disney and Blizzard Entertainment have a lot in common. Both legendary companies that had they followed their founding philosophies they would have been successful forever. That because they changed their philosophies so drastically are changing some of the most successful companies in human history into failures. Also as twisted as the dwarf joke was it is true. Since they are dwarves they cannot change their career with the same ease an able bodied person can. So they do get undercut in cost because they don't really have a choice if the studio stands their ground. They have to take roles for publicity and cannot afford to negotiate the price forever. Not even including that this is the most unfair business in the world from the start. You can fail as an actor even if you are perfect in every aspect just because everyone above you hates you.

It would be weird that they never asked RZ to speak ill of a project she is the lead in or trash the original. Either they asked them and she ignored, or Gal Gadot has a good work ethic. Maybe she is just so used to not trashing anything she is in that Gadot just sees it as common sense? Could be that she was told to talk about it in a good light, or she just went about it the way she normally does. Because Gadot has a big bulk of work behind her, she has been in so many projects that she is probably just used to PR and how to sell tickets. But RZ is very young, has been in movies, but she isn't very professional in the interviews. I hope this is a learning experience for her so that she can learn from her mistake and not repeat it

The classics will continue, like it or not, to live on for generations to come. And quite possibly your careers will forever be tainted. And you can blame Disney for that. I truly love that Disney is feeling the pain and seeing what power the fans actually have. Go ahead and make your garbage. You will continue to lose money.

Well from my standpoint it is simple. Disney gave a young unknown actress free hand to show off and now it will cost them. Take from the other side. Harrison Ford quite openly said that he didn't like the character of Han Solo. Yet he didn't let this affect his performance, at least not in the Original trilogy. And yes I know those were different times. No social networks or such things. If those existed back then. Maybe it would be the same situation. But what constantly makes me wonder is, why does Rachel Zegler think she's something extra, and why does nobody have the guts to tell her to stop causing more harm? If you've had an employee that you know is talking trash about you and your company thus making you lose possible customers, would you keep such an employee?

Said of Barbie “it’s so brightly lit.” Perhaps, if The Mouse doesn’t want to chase (perhaps would say ‘pander’) to those audiences it needs to make the live action remakes more like an Indie studio. What you said about MI7 intrigued me, it's so amazing that Tom Cruise makes the budget work and focused on the storytelling elements, most moviegoers today said that they want quality, that's what MI7 and Barbenheimer delivered. Disney seems to done the total 180 and it's not a good look for the company's health recently, I think for Disney DEI remakes, it's time for them to let it go.

I wish people wouldn't go to see it just to see how bad it is. It's still giving them money. And it sends a clear message to them that it is liked. The same thing happened with Velma. The studio just see the money and think they should commission another series.

I remember when it cost "only" $150 million to make a Hollywood blockbuster - and that was in the 1990s, not (say) the '60s. (Of course, because of inflation, that would equal something like $840 million today, but the INDIANA JONES budget would be well over a billion.)

Disney are too big to go bankrupt. No single movie is going to break them (Disney Plus has lost them billions & is still going). They have a crap load of land, ip, investments, companies that they could sell. They have partnerships & backers that they could leverage to make as much as they need in a pinch. The company has 3 futures: 1) They try & row back on the woke crap. Make entertaing movies without trying to push agendas down the viewers throats. Slowly, their reputation may be redeemed, which may bring people back into the fold. 2) They continue doing what they are doing. Revenue goes down & costs go up. They need to scale back across the board. Less movies & tv shows, smaller budgets for every project, loss making companies/entities being sold off. 3) They continue on as is while trying to steady the ship. Stock reaches a certain point, then Apple steps in & gobbles them up.

There's rumours that Zegler went of Disney's script when promoting this movie and every time they told her to stop she would keep going so she's been fired from her future Disney projects. But I agree why does these dumpster fires of movies cost so much but look like they had less budget then indi movies.

They should take it as a sign that they shouldn't remake Snow White. Not everything needs a remake. Here's an idea: how about instead of using that money to recreate movies, they come up with new ideas...and stop regurgitating the same ideas over and over again

A movie has hidden cost associated with it. One big cost is marketing. A big film like the live action little mermaid is normally reporter to have a marketing budget close to the actual production. The next big cut is ticket sales, the film theaters and studios have a split ticket revenue system depending upon agreements. Most theaters will take 40% of a ticket per sale. So for a movie to break even you need to account for production + marketing + revenue. That’s why a film that only makes its production money back is considered unprofitable

If this movie makes just one cent over double its budget it will be labelled by the MSM as a financial success like the Little Mermaid 😂😂 Wikipedia lists Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning as the 8th highest of 2023 but a box office bomb, but refuses to label Little Mermaid as a bomb even though it came 9th 😂 Goes to show who's really in charge

Cost $300 millions (versus say $147 + promotional with $1.4 BILLION box office to date)! My first guess was due to filming way out of the TMZ in England. But Barbie was partially filming in the UK (@ Venice Beach Skate Park, LA, CA, USA). So that can’t be the total reason. (Warning conspiracy theory speculation - fastidious snark remark) Perhaps the House of Mouse is costing all the severance pay of the layoffs to this film. It would seem letting one of the stars talk has NOT helped. Wikipedia quotes RZ as saying “our [2024] version is a refreshing story of (Snow White) who has a function beyond ‘Someday My Prince Will Come.’” Maybe if she left it at that things would be better (not gr8). But adding “stalker,” “weird, weird” about the 1937 legacy fanned the flames. The Mouse mgmt & PR needed to say “here’s the K Stewart interview on ‘Huntsman.’ Emulate it.” But the Mouse seems to be all-on (analogy intended to TX hold-em) to the tune of $300$900 millions on the “Boss” theme. I’ve heard claims the acting talent for the Seven what-evers are NOT allowed to talk. Go to IMDB’s page on 2024. The roles include Maple, dancers and artisans. Some of these must be the Seven what-evers. Or are the Seven just a chorus or corps de ballet? I have nothing against DEI per se but the mistake IMO is forcing diversity while seemingly retaining medieval/Western European setting falls in the trap of the remake. Changing the setting to Sci-fi-fantasy or perhaps an overtly Hispanic/Spanish setting might work better. Others have done so - Sydney White (contemporary sorority) or Red Shoes & the Seven Dwarves.
