Maybe add to the description suggested angles for each shape?
@thegoodridesnow Жыл бұрын
Good suggestion. It varies though board to board and by rider preference/style. I would say that the only shapes that need certain angles are Asym Twins (perfectly duck +15/-15 or +12/-12) and some very tapered directional rides (+24/+6 or +27/+9 or more directional) often in the snowsurf category.

Usually thats best and woth a try if you haven't before but it comes down to personal preference.

Looking into a directional board and like tge dance haul by Salomon is that a decent board for a intermediate looking for a surfy feeling board
@thegoodridesnow8 ай бұрын
No. It's got a lot of camber and doesn't feel that surfy. Check my review. It feels like a mtn freestyle twin disguised in a directional shape. If you want real help hit me here to give me the info I need to help you much better. With the info I have now I can't make a recommendation because I know nothing about you. shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/

Hello, can you review the Signal Compass - Stargate ? It is in preorder until Nov but it looks like a promising board.

Its been a while since I rode Signal. I'll try to reach out to them again this winter to see if they have some demos we can borrow.

I don’t have a lot of $$ nor want to spend a lot as I’m in PA and winters have been bust- I’m between a Burton flight attendant and nitro squash. I’m a beginner to intermediate rider. Been to powder mountain and snowbird and held my own with experienced friends. I hate park. All about the carving flow and the longboard skateboard groove- so I guess a surfy feel? What board and or profile do ya recommend? More ice up here so leaning toward the camber but I know I had a blast on a rocker once out west.

So neither board came to mind for east coast riding with trips out west.I want to help but need a lot more about you to give you any kind of advice that helps. Hot me here, answer all the questions and I'll get you dialed. shop.thegoodride.com/merchandise/gear-advice/

@DanielGennaro I've been helping people full-time for 14 years, and yes, your question is simple but missing essential info, so any answer would be worthless. All I can offer you is to buy a board with a disrupted sidecut, like from Lib Tech, Gnu, Yes, and others, for where you ride so you get good grip. If you go to thegoodride.com/snowboard-reviews/?mens=1 and filter by Edge Hold, you might be able to find a board.

Question nobody has been able to answer for me: Head anything dct has an asymmetrical shape where the toeside is shorter radius than heelside, All other asym boards are heelside shorter radius than toeside. Why? Does head know something others dont? What is the rationale for putting tigher edge on the heelside? Besides the standard “body is not symmetrical on board. Ofcourse its not but the question is which asymmetrical edge helps, why and how exactly. Edit: inb4 head is just wrong. Ive seen good riders invert their asym boards like the namedropper. So likely most board companies are just copying the concept but nobody really justified the choice.
@thegoodridesnow Жыл бұрын
Well shit! I can't either because I haven't ridden it. I'd only know if I go and I haven't gone. Sorry. If I remember correctly the Name Dropper just had an asym flex but a twin sidecut. Makes sense but I felt more symmetrical on true asyms vs. the Name Dropper.
