I found if you can ice skate well, you'll pick skiing up very fast. You'll have the base balance which is most critical, plus some balance through parallel movements (hockey stops, carving on ice). The rest is just specific technique refinement. Skateboard to snowboard is the same, base balance will be there just a case of refining the technical differences.

The best beginner skiing story I have is when I was took my nube friend skiing and she fell behind me and lost both her skis and I was already at the bottom of the mountain and after not being able to get the skis on because the bindings were up she rolled down the mountain. Solid memories

This is what I think. Snowboarding is way harder to learn and easier to master. Skiing is way easier to learn and harder to master. When I first started snowboarding omg it was so fricken hard. Learning to snowboard is brutal lmao. I legit started crying the first day i was so frustrated. At the same time I was beginning snowboarding, my friend was beginning skiing. And she was already doing turns and stuff. BUT once you get the hang of snowboarding it’s easy af. Mastering skiing is harder than actually learning the basics.

Went to try to learn snowboarding when I went to Alto Campoo in Spain but they only had an english instructor for ski so that’s what I did. I heard skiing is easier to learn but harder to master and snowboard is the other way around. I wonder how true that is? Really want to learn snowboard next season
