Sick vid, man. Love the Japan videos. You’d probably have good reasons to not do it, but if you split board again it’d be awesome to have local Niseko Time displayed at each cut of the video just to get an idea of what time it is at each spot/how much time it’s taking you all. You’re the master at these, so it’s a humble suggestion from a fan. Keep up the great work! Hoping to maybe catch ya in Whistler late March.

Guys! Great experience and what a view! Life hack: while skinning up with your splitboards remember NOT to take steps as you were walking, do make your steps glide forward without getting your foot up in the air. That is going to save tons of energy throughout the day :)

More difficult in deep pow, but for hardpacked or tracked snow like that its a definite leg saver

Great videos guys! Splitboarding and ski touring are developing a lot and quickly in Europe. I did both splitboarding and ski touring (I'm a snowboarder but I used to ski when I was younger), both are great and with pros and cons and I still cannot decide which one I will go next time I go.. One of the things is splitboards are super heavy compare to skis... But the downhill in snowboard man!!

Happy to see you guys expand to some Splitboarding content. Suggestion: Do a review between Karakoram and Spark Bindings and segment it between touring up and riding down.

I've already been back to Japan for 5 seasons since 2015, usually in January and February. 99% of a time is snowy & cloudy day. But this season I was there during Jan10-19, 2019 (almost the same time as u guys). The weather this year is so different. There were many bluebird days and a lot less snow. Even tho, it's still great snow amount compare to many other places, the snow was a few meters less than last season. Thus, I wish you guys come back to Niseko again next season and hopefully u'll see the real awesome Niseko Japow!! :D

Wow, that's awesome! Are you supposed to lift boards while you're walking? I thought thechnique should be more like cross-country skiing with this sliding skis on a snow without lifting them. This should be faster and less tiring.

Heyo Kevin! Was awesome running into you guys today at niseko. Just commented to tj but figured I should post here too. If you guys haven’t already, definitely check out the haru no taki area. It’s open for riding, take ace pair lift #1 and go left off the lift. You’ll see an open gate where the orange tape is removed. Some great powder tree runs into an open pow field. Thanks again for all the awesome videos! And thanks for stopping when I yelled and chased you guys down ✊

Great video. Love your channel. Just curious, since you have all of the avalanche gear and are therefore concerned about the risks, I thought the 5th rule of the avy course was to "get out of harms way" which means that only one person is on the run at a time. Looks like all of you were on the run at the same time.

What was the red thing for you put under the skis of your split board? Sorry just don’t know anything about split boarding or what that’s for and curious.
@Kerthil5 жыл бұрын
It's called skins, it has such a structure that it doesn't let skiis go backwards when you're climbing while it doesn't stop moving forward - high friction in one direction, low in the other. The name comes from seals skins that were used before syntethic were invented, cause the seals fur was "biting" into the snow. Later he had to take ot off because it would make him slower while descending.

depends on the snow, usually its powder and even a little bit makes it for a tough hike... snow shoes or split boards are the options.

Dude you have skins on you dont need to make a 90° angle for switchbacks and shorter slides as you save a tons of energy... Try going split boarding with no poles or skins in 60cm pow... Thats tough... We had to do it about 2 years back when we missed a turn and ended up on a drop onto rocks. Took us good 2 hours but the send was worth it at the end
