We always find the most interesting things on the back roads less traveled. Our time is winding down in Brazil, but we have a few things left that we need to see and do before we leave. The quickest and easiest route is back the way we came north. Truth is, we are world explorers and want to take what some precious time we have remaining to see parts of Brazil that are rarely explored by Brazilians and even less by foreign tourists. From the beautiful mountains full of jungles, winding roads and amazing wildlife back to the white sandy beaches of Santa Catarina, where we are on a mission to find the Right Whales!!!
Cheers

Snow, I have got to tell you that the scene of you walking and climbing up on the rocks on the beach with the waves crashing all around you was just gorgeous. The accompanying music actually brought tears to my eyes realizing how far you have come in your journey back to good health. You are an inspiration to all of us that hardships can be overcome with fortitude and a positive attitude. Thanks. 🫂❤️

Oh, Snow and Curt! You are at a wonderfully beautiful spot. It would be my favorite spot, too. Snow we have so much in common! Hubby and I love all the adventures you two are on. We just got all the recalls done at Mercedes and now will be looking for a converted van with storage under the bed for my electric wheelchair I use for distance. The 19' Roadtrek was just too small. So hoping someone buys it, and we find a van and get back on the road. Oh, and Curt, thank you for showing how you get things done on your van. It has helped us so much!!❤

The teardrop, or coxinhas, is great. But I recommend really verifying the quality of the place and for how long it’s been on the heated display case. I’ve got some pretty nasty tummy bugs from these. Usually if the place is nice and clean, I would expect them to throw away the old ones. But, some places put old ones to sell, and these teardrops have a bad tendency to go bad but still taste like new/eatable.

Like the United States, Brazil is huge, but I understand that Brazil is more diverse and has more differences between regions. The South and Southeast region of Brazil that they are passing through is the richest and most developed region in Brazil. The state of São Paulo would be similar to California, having the best highways in the country, similar to California in quality, and first-world infrastructure. Minas Gerais is a mountainous state with smaller roads but with excellent infrastructure and a different landscape. The state of Paraná has a more diverse landscape and colder climate, just like all the states in southern Brazil, it has good infrastructure. Santa Catarina stands out for its beaches and, together with Paraná, probably has the best quality of life in Brazil, including security. Rio Grande do Sul is the most developed state in the South. The central-western states are more rural but with good infrastructure in the larger cities, when traveling in these states it is good to pay attention to the vehicle's range as sometimes you have fuel a distance away. on the other, in them, if in doubt, I would fill up as soon as half a tank was used up. At certain times of the year, and in certain locations, such as the Pantanal, it is not viable to travel by vehicle, as the region is similar to the swamps in Florida. In the northern region there are few roads, usually in very poor condition and with little infrastructure, a real adventure. In this region it may be easier to travel by boat or plane, which is where we have the Amazon rainforest in a large part of the region. Finally, the northeast region is the one with the most contrasting beautiful locations and varied infrastructure, normally when it has good infrastructure it costs more. For those who earn in dollars in the United States, the day-to-day cost of living in Brazil is low. Vehicles, properties and electronics tend to be more expensive in Brazil due to high tax rates.

I am from New York, well born in London but lived in NYC for 25 years then moved to Recifie and bought a beach house in Pitimbu; the cost of living here is going up but for anyone on a pension the exchange rate is good, and cost of living is comfortable. We love Brazil and managed to buy a house 50 feet from the sea for cheaper than the cost of a car in the USA. Brazil and its people are amazing and the best move my wife and I made. I highly recommend Brazil to anyone interested.

My cousin sponsored many people from Brazil because when she was getting her nursing degree, she had 2 little ones, was going to school and working, so she hired a nanny who was from Brazil. She became part of our family and I always tell young mothers looking for childcare to get someone from Brazil because they are the kindest people to help raise your children!!!

@technoboston Yes, the previous family she was with for 3 months were awful to her!! When my cousin brought her on vacation and told her she had every other day to do what she wanted to do, she was shocked because the previous family did the total opposite, and were actually not kind totheir children either. It's very sad, but I have had great employers and awful ones. The majority of others that she sponsored went to work in the health field or construction. She only had one who lived with her until the kids were older. Her nanny ended up meeting another Brazilian in Seattle, and they fell in love, married, and are raising their children in Oregon, but we all still talk, send Christmas cards and hear about their visits back to Brazil!!! I also went to school with an exchange student from Brazil, but she got homesick after 3 months and went back. The world can be a wonderful place, but unfortunately their is evil in every country.

Even though I'm Brazilian, I didn't know many of the places you're visiting. In another video of yours, I was surprised by Curt's courage and determination when climbing a mountain in Rio de Janeiro, even though I'm native to that city, I've never been to that mountain. Thank you for sharing the images, you are very brave. 👏🏼

I'm also from Rio (living south now) and back in the day I used to do hang gliding off of Pedra Bonita. For those of you who don't know, it's the mountain next to the Gávea monolith that Curt climbed. Even though running off the face of a mountain with a hang glider does need some getting used to, it becomes second nature, we don't really think much of the height while doing that. And while I did fly hang gliders for some time, I'd never, ever have the courage to do a climb like Curt did in the video. The man has nerves of steel.

Those "Pine tree forests" are planted forests and the area used to it are always under use. The pine tree is used to produce celulosis, Brazil is one of the biggest producers of celulosis to the manufacture of all kinds of paper. Its hugely regulamented sector and New land cannot be deforested to it, so only existing farming land can be used, avoiding deforestation of new land. Most lands are administered by large companies using all sort of tech like drones, cameras and satelite images.

Hey I was one of the many many people commenting about Balneário. When you mentioned the problem with parking, yeah, really understandable! It's quite an awful city to park for regular cars, let along a giant camper van. Thank you so much for visiting though, so glad my city was part of your amazing journey!

It’s wonderful to know you are considering living in Santa Catarina here in Brazil. It’s definitely the kind of place foreigners, americans, come to live! It’s one of the most developed states in Brazil, growing A LOT, there are a lot of possibilities because there are huge cities and small cities and beaches, so you can live in a smaller town and if you need anything bigger, just take the road some minutes up or down and you will get it. You can keep your youtube channel running, but more with a “americans living in Brazil” motto, and I am sure it would attract a lot of people to watch your journey too. And if you earn in dollars here, you will be fine because right now the currency isn’t that great. You can also look out for foreigners, americans, that live in Santa Catarina and can give you all kinds of tips. Cheers!

That beach was spectacular. The thing I love most about being on a beach and looking out across the water to the horizon is that it has pretty much always looked the same from the beginning of time.

@@SnowAndCurt I'm not a specialist, but I guess the whales go north during the winter time to scape from the cold waters of Antartica. If you didn't spot any till today, you will probably won't see any here in Brazil. I said it before, I saw some whales at Matadeiro Beach right next to the surfers, but it was 10 years ago, on september. "Matadeiro" means "matadouro", "slaughterhouse", cause 70+ years ago, Matadeiro Beach was a bay where they used trap the whales to fish them. But all this comment is useless now, cause I suspect you guys are far way from here HAHAHA. Anyway, I hope you guys scaped our heavy rains of this last month and are traveling safe through south america. GO CURT AND SNOW!!!

Balneário Camboriú has nothing to do with Dubai, The joke is because in the city there are no height limits for buildings, and in other places in Brazil there are limits.
